So far I only used Meguiare's Gold car shampoo on the RT Classic wheels, but I am wondering what rim cleaning product would guys recommend?

The Classic wheels are forged aluminum, right? Do they have clear coat?

I was thinking of using either the Meguiare's Aluminum Wheel Cleaner or All Wheel Cleaner.

Which one do you use/recommend?

Cheers!

Uh-oh. I used Mother's Chrome Polish...they still look ok though....it did clean them up nice...am I going to be in trouble down the road? Been a week, and they still look good....maybe not as shiny as the chrome clads, but look like polished aluminum/chrome....

Did I make a big mistake?

Chrome Polish can scratch clearcoat if you rub too hard, and it might require a scratch remover or paint polish to restore -- not the end of the world. Just don't use it again -- stick with paint care products or one of our plastic polishes for the tough wheel clearcoat.

Thanks. I have Mother's Carnauba Cleaner Wax...would that work, or is there a specific plastic polish you recommend?

I was rubbing pretty hard....

That's a fine all-purpose cleaner wax and excellent for that purpose when you detail. If it works, keep using it. We generally recommend one of plastic polishes as it's a little better suited for the tough clearcoat, but your results may vary depending on what's needed. If that doesn't remove scratches, try a scratch remover or polishing compound. For after wash use, I like our California Gold Spray Wax, but any similar spray-and-wipe wax would really make a big difference in shine and protection with ease.

Yep, I initially washed the wheels with a good old "dish soap", then put on a couple of coats of "Liquid Glass".

After every wash, just hit them with detail spray on a cloth. They shine/reflect like a million, and I'll never think "chrome" again.

Clean "Heritage" wheels are in a class by themselves IMO. Wouldn't own any others.

this is what i do:

everytime i take it to the car wash, i use a mit and get down low and hand wash each wheel getting in between the spokes good and along the edges. dry em

next spray turtle wax ice spray wax on them, use a microfiber towel and wipe them dry. works amazing.

my 2 cents.
