A friend and myself test drove the new Charger R/T.
Have to say that I was quite impressed.

I then asked the sales person, if they plan to make any changes to the Challenger for 2012.
She informed me that may be the last year that the Challenger is made.
Was then told that they may be releasing the Chrysler Barracuda for 2013.
If that is in fact true, that would be really cool.

It makes sense.

I could see the last year of production being a chrysler barracuda with a 426 engine in a limited production, thats just my opinion though.

Unfortunately, Chrysler continues to lag behind in the recovery process, at least in relation to GM, and of course Ford never took any money. Kudos to Ford, but I still don't really want a Mustang.

So, that said, and now with Fiat in the picture, I think anything is possible. Let's face it, they're not selling a lot of Challengers so they wouldn't miss them that much if they're gone.

showroom people know nothing.....dont think they know more than the average Challenger talk person.....

i know tons more than anyone at the dealership where i bought my car...they knew nothing about my challenger.....i dont think they know anything about the Cuda or when the Challenger will die

i even know more about the Challenger than anyone who answers the Dodge phone line too....just to get my mopar bucks took 3 phone calls to dodge and 3 attempts on the internet......the whole salesforce was on the internet just to find it....

dealerships dont know any good rumors...you probably just ran into a know it all

No Cuda coming at all. There isn't a market for one. That came straight from Dodge/Chrysler a few months back. The Challenger is selling approximately where they expected it to be. But to dilute the market even further with another muscle car would not be a good idea. Like Ford bringing back the Capri (yes Mercury is dead) or GM bringing back the Firebird.

And Ford did take government money, just not in bailout form. They just took a loan.

Hey Devil! My first car was a Capri, 1973 2600 V6, 4-spd. Great little screamer with plenty of engine and not enough gear.

I always liked the Capri's, the ones in the UK were nice little cars I hear. The 5.0's in the 80's were no slouch either.

I dunno. In a way the Challenger does do something for the Dodge brand as a whole. If after a few years my experience my Challenger experience doesn't turn sour with major repairs I'd probably consider going Dodge for my future vehicles. The Challenger is a gateway vehicle! ;)

Yep. My third car was a 1976 Capri II with the 2.8 and a 4 spd. More torque than the '73 and an awesome suspension with Boge Turbo TS shocks. I had a great time in my Capris. You're right though, Mercury is all but dead. Their entire lineup is geared toward a female buyer. Last car I saw from GM that still makes my car meter rise is the G8 sedan.

I had a Capri a couple of them they were fun to drive, got drunk one day took it out into the 4 wheel fields and beat the thing to death blew the struts right through the hood, left it there to die in the field forever, got drunk in the other one and wraped it around a gaurd rail on I95 down in Lauderdale spend the rest of that night in the county jail.
In any event the Cuda will become reality. Devil is wrong, they are going to built them soon.
Just like they build the 10 White ones for Bob Fredrick.
It's just a matter of when not if.

I am with you there... this is my first Chrysler and if it isn't crap I could be convinced to do it again... especially if they make a true Mustang GT competitor that doesn't look and sound boring...
