I understand that until it's offical from Dodge, we're all just speculating. But for the sake of argument, if it pans out as laid out here, then there is no logical reason that I can see for buying these packages. Like mentioned above, you might as well buy an SRT at that point.

If it pans out as laid out, then in my opinion, Dodge isn't looking to sell to "us," the type of people that put thought and research into what we buy, but your average unknowledgable consumer who will just tick boxes when ordering. I think that was mentioned before as well.

Quote from the blog:

The Scat Packs are designed to retro-fit any Dodge Charger or Challenger dating back to 2008. Scat Pack 1 is available beginning this month and Scat Packs 2 and 3 will be available in July

Answers one of my questions!!

Now we know what is included in the Stage 2 package, and there is no mention of valve springs - leave the heads on! This is Big News in my book. If you can buy the cam kit without the pcm and put your own JBAs on with a custom tune, it may be viable.

SCAT PACK 2 5.7-liter
With a starting U.S. MSRP of $1,895, Scat Pack 2 yields increases of up to 30 horsepower.

Works in conjunction with Scat Pack 1 and features:
  • Mopar performance camshaft kit: includes camshaft, tiebars, heavy-duty pushrods and gaskets
  • Stage 2 performance PCM
  • (2) Scat Pack 2 stage kit hard badges

Yep...I want to see the specs on the camshaft, specifically if its just a 392 cam shaft or something a little different.

There has been people here, on this forum, who have swapped the 392 cam for $2300, cam, associated parts, install and tune-all included. They are claiming 50-60 hp gains. I hardly see the Scat Pack 2 as cost effective, that being the case.

Interesting ... if that's all legit the next big thing I'd want to know is what installation will cost to retro-fit...

Pretty easy question to answer: call your local Dodge service department and ask what it costs to R&R a camshaft change. Be prepared to be shocked.

You never know. If they plan on doing a lot of these there may be service specials and they may be training "specialists" at certain dealers. Also, my local dealer often has 15% off service coupons.

My grandfather was a 38 year employee of Chrysler, I used his discount to buy my car. He also gets discounts on parts .... I wonder if you will be allowed to use that discount on Scat Pack parts...

So many questions !

Does anyone have experience with an aftermarket version of a stage 3 that they could share their HP findings on? I was considering a stage 2 but if we're talking 4k+ without install I'll pass. I just need to find a shop that will swap out my cam. Not gonna try that on my own on a new car.

I think Stage 3 is close what I have (except for the heads - maybe 5 HP). 392 Cam (MDS), CAI, Shorty Headers, MOPAR Perf (Corsa) Exhaust, Tune (Johan) - ~45 RWHP. Add the 15% (debatable) loss from flywheel and it's close to the 58 that MOPAR is advertising. Total cost $4,000 or so, including labor.

ok.......i am extremely disappointed. For once I thought that we would get something worthwhile. I am not buying this since it is a total rip off and the aftermarket possibilities are a much better buy even if my warranty is voided.

Here is the link:

Scat Pack Performance Packages for 2014 Dodge Challenger and Charger

What do you guys think?:scratchhead:
Did Dodge change up what's included in Scat 3? Last time I checked high flow cats were not included and a cam was available. This is probably only a feeler article to gauge reaction.

Modern Mopar Magazine | New Dodge Scat Pack Stage Kits to Boost Performance While Preserving Vehicle Warranty; Pricing, Performance Numbers Also Announced

“The Scat Pack factory stage kits can help boost 5.7-liter HEMI performance up to an additional 58 horsepower and 47 lb.-ft. of torque, allowing Dodge enthusiasts to extract the maximum performance from their vehicles without the fear and guesswork typically associated with modifying late-model vehicles,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge Brand. “And now with a warranty guarantee, they can do so with the peace of mind that their manufacturer’s warranty remains intact.”

I still don't think it's worth the asking price but it seems pretty solid that it shouldn't impact the warranty on a vehicle.

Take it easy
Jay
I'd rather skip Scat 1. I would like to choose my one exhaust and CAI.
