Anyone have any 1/4 mile times and speeds on a stock or modified SE?

And the numbers and speeds (where applicable) for all the points going down the track too. 60 foot, 330, 1/8, 1000, etc.

I've noticed that Challengers with 20" wheels switch to 17" for the track. Why is that? And if 17" are a better, are 20" just for looks?

Way back in the mid 90's, when I could barely afford cars, much less any mods to them (which hasn't changed much :(), I used to be dead serious about getting my 1973 225 /6 Duster to do the best it could in drag races. Trying different shift points, launch rpms, etc.

All while getting 18.7 @ 71 mph timeslips, but I still tried.:disgust:

the 17" rims build up rpm's faster than using the 20's. that is the reason why a lot of R/T drivers use the 17" rims and drag radials.

The rims themselves do NOTHING for increasing tire rpms, it's the overall tire diameter that matters. And a 17 inch drag tire can be smaller diameter than a 20.

should have included the tire size that went with the 17" rims. I want to say the tires were 275/45/17.

Fixed it for you ;) They have a 26" diameter which gives our cars better gearing for the 1/4mile. Just wish we could push the 5.7s a little further in the rpm department, when using a 26" tire with 3.06s we have to shift into 4th just before the traps. Its a pretty nice size for SRT8s though, they can spin up an extra 500 or so rpms over our 5700rpm limiter
