how much weight can i expect to save from seat deletes?

im considering taking the rear bench out, is it fairly easy?

also what's in a delete kit other than a very expensive lump of plastic, can i not just carpet the hole?

Hate to be that guy.. but search will certainly help as it's been covered several times. Youtube has a few videos that show the process. Mine took about 2 hours to swap from start to clean up.

Yes, you can cut any corners that you want. It's your car. a $20 roll of carpet will horribly, cover the opening.

Google "Speedy's Garage" or look on YouTube; he has a good video of rear seat removal. IIRC, he weighed it and found the rear seat to be about 40lbs.

You don't have to replace the rear seat with the seat-delete kit; heck, you can leave it open. That will however increase cabin noise and be rather unsightly.

Weight reduction is minimal, about 60lbs total. If you choose to get the factory seat delete kit, it adds back about 10.63lbs. So around a 50lb net gain.

You get roughly about 1/10th of a second per 100lbs reduction.

Link to Speedy's video where he weighs the parts.

I pulled passenger seat and rear seat one night for a test and tune, which resulted in nothing notable on my times. But it definitely made the stock exhaust louder in-car and more enjoyable (for a day).

I really think we should start telling people to do this in exhaust threads 😜

I can confirm that it definitely increases the road noise. But I am all for telling people it makes their cars louder if they would do that instead of exhaust modifications waking me up all day... *#^$s.

Removing passenger and rear seats in theory should improve ET 0.1 seconds. It's difficult to compare unless the weight reductions were made on back to back runs with similar DA and track conditions but rest assured all things being equal the car that is 100 lbs lighter will be faster.

Oh absolutely, I wasn’t trying to imply that it’s not a significant weight cut. Driver mod would have helped me more 😁
If you remove the rear seat and the rear seatbelts, it will be an even bigger weight savings. This would assume you did not plan to put the seats back when needed. All overkill for a daily driver not going to the strip
