Found the first downside of the shaker.

If your not smart enough to check the oil capacity before you start changing the oil, you get halfway through changing before you realize you don't have enough. Have to put the shaker scoop back on to go get another quart, then take it back off to add it. 🤦‍♂️

Just assumed a six quart case would be enough.

First world problems am I right?

I guess second reason, my daughter says she doesn't like the scoop. Doesn't understand why it needs to be there.

Kids are ever the filterless critics.

* and, after checking three parts stores and nobody carrying it, remembering why you had to order it online in the first place.

You can easily drive without it, but it is only 4 quick bolts, and it is plainly covered in the owners manual (page 397 on my 2018) with the capacities of all of the engines. Also there are alternatives to just the MOPAR/Pennzoil and still meeting the SPEC mentioned in the manual.

The "funnel trick" does work but inserting funnel may cause "unseen" debris getting into the fill hole.
Removing the Shaker is VERY EASY to do....... 4 Bolts and the Shaker is removed.
Once the Shaker is removed you can do a quick inspection of the engine area that is a popular place for nesting rodents and leaf accumulation (Blow out the area with compressed air)..... You can also check for any any fluid leaks or failing hoses while the Shaker is removed.
This is also a good time to check the weather seal around the Shaker and make sure it is clean and protected with a "protectant" like 303.

Yeah, I agree, and it is fun in a lame kinda way getting the actual "SHAKER Tool" out of the glovebox, and removing the 4 nuts. But since, like you mentioned, it is a great way to at least twice a year, clean/inspect the "innards" it is a good thing. I've only taken the top cover off twice, once for kicks and pics
and once for my first oil change. My oil should be here today/tomorrow so I will do another this weekend.

It was in February for me, either "wide body" or "Shaker". Went with the Shaker... Not trying to offend anyone as it is a personal taste but the wide-body always felt to me as it was a last minute bolt on thought unlike real "flared wide body". Of course when I saw the Shaker in Granite Crystal [old man's color!!!], 6 speed manual, forged aluminum wheels. 18 speakers HK and active exhaust I could not resist...

Already 8000 miles later and three oil changes!

I see that you have Valentine1 Gen2 User in your photo. Are you pleased with it so far? I'm one of those longtime "V1 Zombies" and am looking forward to getting a Gen2. Or, at least I think I'm looking forward. ;)

OP ... sorry about the hijack.

Dodge dealers carry the Pennzoil 0w40 - I've found the prices comparable (at times lower) than online. I also have a spare quart, just in case I need to top off after hard driving, etc (my other vehicle uses the same weight as well)

Correction, the oil came today, but Walmart shipped the wrong thing 🤦‍♂️ they shipped european blend, but my order was for advanced. I doublechecked Valvoline's specs and yep, wrong oil.

I wasn't really complaining. I knew I needed 7 quarts but spaced when it came time to order. Plus I had another car to go search for oil. I was mostly just entertaining myself with the post. I love my shaker.

You were right. 10.40 a quart. I think I payed a little under $50 for a case of six originally

We are good! Myself also had one since 1995! Was the thing to have on BMW motorcycles... Then I quite that for 15+/- years as motorcycle/sidecar/dog... no need!
The answer is yes! I love it WITH having also JBV1 on my phone. They complement each other considering that the V1G2 cannot have GPS [Escort has the patent] and the JBV1 eliminates all the BSM. [Blind Spot Monitors].

There is a learning curve with the JBV1, the settings but RDForum is fantastic, "Vortex Radar" channel has great videos and I would be happy to help you also.

Amazing alerts from 1 to 2.4 miles! and that is a lot....
