I haven't been a Challenger owner for long and I appologise for my first post being a complaint against a vendor.

I’m a salesmen for the largest wholesale Ferrari dealer in the US. I work daily with customers who are very demanding so I have thick skin. It’s very uncommon for me to complain about anything.

In December of last year I purchased a 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8. It’s was a little slow compared to my Ferrari’s and had some handling issues so I decided add some aftermarket parts. I installed an Eibach suspension, Magnuson supercharger , and a Cervini T/A hood. I spoke to each of the manufactures a few times prior to purchasing these items and asked lots of questions for which I took notes. All of the people I dealt with in my pre-purchase and install were very helpful especially Shop Hemi and Magnuson. During one of my calls to Cervinis. I asked if the T/A hood would fit with a Magnuson supercharger. I was told they had not done it themselves however they did know of people (Leno, Petty’s Garage) who had installed this combination and the only modification needed was fitment of the hose between the throttle body and the Cervini airbox. Satisfied that the T/A hood would fit I ordered it and sent to a local bodyshop to paint and install all the hood components. When I installed the hood in my garage the rain gutter of the ram air system pressed firmly against the supercharger pulley and the ram air ducting also impacted the throttle body. At this point I wasn’t upset at all and took some photos and video of the impact issues and sent them along to Cervini’s. I spoke to the tech department and suggested we work together to find a solution. I informed them that I had a friend who made carbon fiber for the aircraft industry and I would be more then willing to have a new piece fabricated out of carbon fiber with adjustments for all the impact issues if they would loan me the lower duct section so my friend could scan it in. I told them that I would pick up all the costs for the engineering and they could have the mold when complete. I didn’t want to use mine as I had already hacked it up in my garage and made a temp fix so I could drive my car. I also didn’t want to take mine off as it would put my car out of service for awhile. The tech a Cervini was very nice and said he would let his management know and get back to me. The owner of Shop Hemi and a few other vendors knew about my problems and said Cervinis were good guys who would work with me. Here is where the whole experience went south.
A week or so after sending all the photos and video to Cervinis I got a VM from the marketing guy Jim Frie and called him back the next day. When I spoke to Jim. I told him the whole story and about my plans to reengineer the piece at my cost. From the beginning of the call Jim was cold and arrogant telling me that he had his own manufacturing facilities and wasn’t interested in what I wanted to do. I asked him if he was planning to address the issue and he said he wasn’t planning to do anything about it. I asked him about borrowing the piece and he said no. I went serious on him and mentioned the other vendors who I was working with who said good things about Cervini’s. He basically went on about there was nothing he was prepared to do. I told him about my conversations with sales prior to my purchase that I wouldn’t have any fitment issues with the hood itself and he asked me if I had it in writing. I’m telling you this guy was a complete jerk and it takes a lot to get under my skin. Finally he agreed to sell me the piece and take it back within 90 days if undamaged. I agreed even though as a matter of good faith he should have loaned me the piece. The next day I received an email from sales with an agreement laid out by Jim. Once again Jim was being difficult by asking me to provide a photo copy of my license and front and back of my credit card. This is after having placed two orders from them totaling almost $2000. I purchased the hood months prior and it was already well established who I was. This is also against AMEX policy and they had never asked for any of this information in the past. I refused and sent them a money order instead.
The quality of the product is unquestionably good. I think most people might have tried to return the hood or asked for money back if they had experienced the same fitment issues. I never made an issue about my problems and plan to spend a fair amount of my own money in engineering a new piece out of carbon fiber. I even offered these guys the mold for free.

It only took one jerk for me to totally change my view of this company. Except for replacement parts. I will never purchase another product from this company or recommend them to anyone else.

Some folks don't know enough to take a step back and re examine how they are going about things. Basically take a deep breath count to ten.

The guy must have had his reasons and they were probably best for the company. Who knows really, bummer you had issues. These cars are for enjoyment not heartache. It happens move on and enjoy the car.

Sorry to hear about your issues. Thank you for passing along your experience I will keep it in mind when shopping vendors; this is not something I would want to deal with after a $2k purchase

Thankx for the input, as I was also planning on taking this route (maggie and Cervini T/A hood). Could u provide photos of where the Cervini's airbox and ducting interfere with the maggie pully? With your "quikfix", does the airbox still function or does it render it unfunctional? I currently have the stock hood Cervini setup and have been very happy with their quality and customer service, but your issues makes me want to rethink my plan of action. I was also looking at the G5 T/A hood, but they have not followed through with their ducting to the CAI as of yet. Thankx, Tom

I have a Maggie Supercharger and a Cervinis Shaker hood on my 2009 R/T challenger. Shop Hemi installed both Products. The Cervinis Shaker hood came from Richard Petty's Garage and Petty's had to modify the shaker to fit and clear. I had a tour of the Petty garage and saw the mod. in progress. Seeing that Cervinis is not interested Petty's might Its hard to believe that Cervinis is not intrested in supported their customers and to me your report of their response is totally unexceptable. I would suggest that you write a letter to the President.

Careful, this forum coddles the vendors and craps on anyone who dares to have a negative thing to say about them i.e. money driven. Never mind that some members have paid for lifetime memberships or have spent tens of thousands of dollars on their cars and have issues with service. Sorry about your experience, it would be pointless to tell you to shake it off and continue on.

I'm sorry you feel this way. Criticism of any vendor is okay. The problems begin when criminal accusations are made (this is not the place for that), mob mentality starts (accusations by members who had no personal dealings with the vendor), or harassment takes place (multiple posts in multiple threads about the same thing).
So far, I've seen none of that here.

And of course, always the forum rules must be followed.

It's obvious the either the contact has his head where the sun don't shine, no engineering back-round or both and turned a win-win into loose-loose. Or maybe he made and "executive decision" and didn't run it up the line. Either way Cervini's looses. The cost to R&D what was going to given to them is way more the the cost of the piece in question and shipping.

Vendors can stink at times. I've been there, done that (that's why I no longer mod)... sorry for your hastles, though!

Don't feel bad that your first post was a complaint... forums are for bitching and complaining, we all do it, so your first post was perfect! You were a veteran of the forums before your second post!

I can understand what you are trying to accomplish, but you did buy a hood, knowing it wouldn't fit perfectly with your mods, then ask the vendor to loan you the tooling so you can reverse-engineer it for you application. Are you nuts?

No he is not nuts. As a matter of fact he has gone the extra mile and the big benefactor would have been Cervini's You need to go back and re-read the original post. Never mind I just copied it her for you and hi-lited the important parts.

I decided add some aftermarket parts. I installed an Eibach suspension, Magnuson supercharger , and a Cervini T/A hood.

R&D costs are the most cost involved with a product and you were willing to do all that for them and create a mold. dumb of them to not just jump on this and have a solution made for them that they could provide customers. pretty dumb on there part.

Hey Everyone,

This is Jim Frie, Director of Marketing at Cervini's. I feel inclined to offer a response to Mr. Moore's post.

Mr. Moore: I personally apologize if you feel that I came across as arrogant or unwilling to help you. As I told you over the phone this is my family's business and I care deeply about Cervini's quality and reputation. With that said, the root of the confusion begins with supercharger clearance when using our Shaker or T/A hood. We know from prior experience from working with Arrington and Petty's that our Shaker needs to be modified to clear the Magnuson supercharger. Neither Cervini's nor Petty's test fit a Magnuson-T/A combination.

We are currently in the process of updating our Shaker, T/A, and Ram Air systems to work on a 392. We are also taking the blower clearance issues into consideration. If a suitable change can be made to the T/A hood, Cervini's will contact you. I explained this to you on the phone but you could not wait, which I understand. I offered you the duct portion of our T/A system for $90.00. As long as that duct is returned to us unmodified within 90 days you will receive a credit of back of $90.00. I can not loan you a duct free of charge and I do not have a need for a carbon fiber mold as composite manufacturing is our expertise.

The ID and credit card request was handled poorly on my end. The email I had Philip send to you were standardized for Special orders and did not reflect on your previous history. I apologize.

Mr. Moore, I hope this post clears up any confusion. It was not my intent to come across to you as an abrasive, arrogant or cold.
