I haven't been a Challenger owner for long and I appologise for my first post being a complaint against a vendor.
I’m a salesmen for the largest wholesale Ferrari dealer in the US. I work daily with customers who are very demanding so I have thick skin. It’s very uncommon for me to complain about anything.
In December of last year I purchased a 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8. It’s was a little slow compared to my Ferrari’s and had some handling issues so I decided add some aftermarket parts. I installed an Eibach suspension, Magnuson supercharger , and a Cervini T/A hood. I spoke to each of the manufactures a few times prior to purchasing these items and asked lots of questions for which I took notes. All of the people I dealt with in my pre-purchase and install were very helpful especially Shop Hemi and Magnuson. During one of my calls to Cervinis. I asked if the T/A hood would fit with a Magnuson supercharger. I was told they had not done it themselves however they did know of people (Leno, Petty’s Garage) who had installed this combination and the only modification needed was fitment of the hose between the throttle body and the Cervini airbox. Satisfied that the T/A hood would fit I ordered it and sent to a local bodyshop to paint and install all the hood components. When I installed the hood in my garage the rain gutter of the ram air system pressed firmly against the supercharger pulley and the ram air ducting also impacted the throttle body. At this point I wasn’t upset at all and took some photos and video of the impact issues and sent them along to Cervini’s. I spoke to the tech department and suggested we work together to find a solution. I informed them that I had a friend who made carbon fiber for the aircraft industry and I would be more then willing to have a new piece fabricated out of carbon fiber with adjustments for all the impact issues if they would loan me the lower duct section so my friend could scan it in. I told them that I would pick up all the costs for the engineering and they could have the mold when complete. I didn’t want to use mine as I had already hacked it up in my garage and made a temp fix so I could drive my car. I also didn’t want to take mine off as it would put my car out of service for awhile. The tech a Cervini was very nice and said he would let his management know and get back to me. The owner of Shop Hemi and a few other vendors knew about my problems and said Cervinis were good guys who would work with me. Here is where the whole experience went south.
A week or so after sending all the photos and video to Cervinis I got a VM from the marketing guy Jim Frie and called him back the next day. When I spoke to Jim. I told him the whole story and about my plans to reengineer the piece at my cost. From the beginning of the call Jim was cold and arrogant telling me that he had his own manufacturing facilities and wasn’t interested in what I wanted to do. I asked him if he was planning to address the issue and he said he wasn’t planning to do anything about it. I asked him about borrowing the piece and he said no. I went serious on him and mentioned the other vendors who I was working with who said good things about Cervini’s. He basically went on about there was nothing he was prepared to do. I told him about my conversations with sales prior to my purchase that I wouldn’t have any fitment issues with the hood itself and he asked me if I had it in writing. I’m telling you this guy was a complete jerk and it takes a lot to get under my skin. Finally he agreed to sell me the piece and take it back within 90 days if undamaged. I agreed even though as a matter of good faith he should have loaned me the piece. The next day I received an email from sales with an agreement laid out by Jim. Once again Jim was being difficult by asking me to provide a photo copy of my license and front and back of my credit card. This is after having placed two orders from them totaling almost $2000. I purchased the hood months prior and it was already well established who I was. This is also against AMEX policy and they had never asked for any of this information in the past. I refused and sent them a money order instead.
The quality of the product is unquestionably good. I think most people might have tried to return the hood or asked for money back if they had experienced the same fitment issues. I never made an issue about my problems and plan to spend a fair amount of my own money in engineering a new piece out of carbon fiber. I even offered these guys the mold for free.
It only took one jerk for me to totally change my view of this company. Except for replacement parts. I will never purchase another product from this company or recommend them to anyone else.
