Hello Everyone! I'll get right to it. I have 2015 R/T plus 5.7L V8. I was at a red light, had the car at 0. Light turned green, gave it gas and nothing. The car wasn't moving. Dashboard read, "shift into P to park". I put on the emergency lights and tried to shift into P. Nothing. The stick was stuck in Drive. Trying not to panic, so I threw the emergency lights on, and turned off the car. After it came back, I was able to drive. I've had this happen on 3 separate occasions with little variation. Always happens when im at a complete stop, and the car is in drive. Never going more than 40mph on local roads. Second time it happened I was able to actually shift into P then proceeded to turn off the car. Hella scary expereince. Brought it in to the dealer ship. They said they'd never heard of anything like that. Nothing on the diagnostic tool showed up. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. Any help is appreciated.

This car is extremely dangerous. We purchased ours brand new from the dealership in Brandon, Florida. Less than 1 month later had our first close call with an accident when the vehicle without warning looses all acceleration as we are pulling into oncoming traffic from a stop sign. The gear shift "D" flashes red and the digital readout on the dashboard instructs you to "Place vehicle in Park and shift to desired gear". This means that no matter where you are whether in the middle of an intersection or while merging into oncoming traffic, you must come to a complete stop and put the vehicle in "Park" and then shift back into "Drive". This has happened a total of 5 times with two of those being captured on video by my son who was driving the car. Dodge still has no idea what is causing the problem nor do they have any clue how to fix it. Filed a Lemon Law suit notified the NTSB as well as the Federal Trade Commission. Don't put yourself, family members or the innocent other driver at risk. This car needs to be considered for a Class Action Lawsuit against Dodge.

Wow thanks so much for posting that. I knew I couldn't be the only one. I just dont know what to do from here. I couldn't find anything else on this either.

Thanks so much! Thats exactly whats happening! I'm gonna bring it in and reference this video. Every time I tell them about it, they look at me like im crazy. This should provide a baseline to help diagnosis the issue. Again I really appreciate that!

All the symptoms are a result of the car stalling. My car did this when I had a tune issue after a cam install. All the same symptoms will result if the cars engine stalls or turns itself off. No codes or anything like that.

You are not exactly in the same boat as me but if no codes are resulting, see if there is a new update for your pcm that dealer hasnt done or did recently.

The question is what is causing the car to stall or cut the engine and if no codes come up, I am willing to bet that it is a programing issue.

2014/15 Cherokees were doing this sometimes, too. I haven't experienced it, but I've seen several people complain about it online.

Did the dealership do anything about it? My car did the same thing yesterday (1/22/2018) and now it's in service waiting to hear back from them?

Video guy is FOS when he says "steering wheel is locked up." Its just got no power steering, or else he wouldn't have been able to pull over. I'm not saying its OK for new cars to stall... but ALL cars can malfunction and stall, and people need to know how to drive without power steering and brakes, and especially that you CAN drive without power steering and brakes. Worst thing of all is to panic and quit even trying to control the car!!!

<old phart mode> Back in my day, in driver's ed the instructor would reach over and turn the ignition off as we cruised around a parking lot, then make us turn a few corners without power steering and come to a controlled stop after pumping the brakes a few times to bleed off all the power assist. </old phart mode>

Still having the same issue after they supposedly replace the valve body. I'm trying to make this go public and send it to my local news station so they can make this issue a thing since dodge won't help since the car does not code out. I have proof in video and pictures. I almost got rear ended last time.

Hello,

First of all, sorry for bumping this old thread .. I just had this exact issue at a U-turn, luckily I didn't have to turn the car off, rather i moved the stick to P and then back to "D" to roll the car.

Sadly, my car is out of warrenty and I don't know where to start in diagnosing the issue :S

@OP did you find what was the problem?

I’m having the exact same problem with my 2014 Dodge Durango. Did anyone find a solution to this problem?

FYI - the 2015s have several TSBs regarding the reflash of the PCM/TCM. I'd make sure the dealership gives you the latest revisions on both modules.
