15 SRT M6 31k miles.

So long story short..I had 4 tires put on my car in August..mechanic says to me the RR tire is bad from Pirelli, you'll feel a vibration..we don't have a replacement, come back next week we ordered a new one. I went back they replaced the tire..No vibration or shimmy before any of this mind you..(maybe a little at high speed like 90ish but nothing too terrible) and it still vibrates/shimmys.

Since then..the rear end has been replaced the front rim was replaced and everything was road forced balanced by the dealer and a separate tire place just to make sure all is within spec. it is..Tuesday they replaced the "snubber bearing" they call it..I think its worse.

It seems to come mostly at speed above 60 is where you feel it. Last night I picked up the car after work as Service was closed, its worse..the car rolls smooths as silk but it has a definite shimmy/vibration in the rear.

Here is the email I sent to the dealer last night when I got home. I spoke to them during the day and made arrangements to pick it up and they said its as good as it will get. I had a feeling that wasn't good. LOL.

-----

Fyi...you guys put 60 miles on my car and the problem is worse!! The statement of its as good as it's going to get is ridiculous.

I could feel it was worse before I hit the traffic light when I made a right out of the parking lot.

Tell me what to do.

I can drop it off and leave it until it's fixed..I won't need a rental. You guys can call Dodge and have someone who is able to make the right diagnosis come out and get to the bottom of the issue.

I could not sell this car privately or trade it in. In a quarter of a mile, they would know something is wrong.

This issue is not getting the attention it deserves and I need some direction on how to handle this with you guys.

Let's talk tom. If it's something you guys can't fix then, please point me in the right direction within Dodge.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Pat

It sure sounds like a bad tire to me. Maybe go to a tire dealer inside of the Dodge dealer.

Thanks Andrea,

The service department manager was out today and the service writer I sent the email to is going to have them call me. She did email me back saying so this morning.

Anything short of them saying bring it in and we'll keep it until its fixed I will let you know.

To the others,

I believe the road force balance would identify a bent rim or a bad tire no?

Also I assume Id feel a pulse in the brakes if I had a warped rotor?

Im not in the service repair business but do believe they should systematically go through all possibilities with it at this point.

Find someone who has a Hunter Roadforce balancer. This will diagnose a tire or a wheel. Let them balance the tires and see if vibration disappears. If it does, take the bill to the dealer and let them pay for it.

I'm wondering if there's an issue with rear hub, wheel (this may have been eliminated with rotation positions) or a half-shaft.

Lots of tries with the tires, wondering if its a mechanical item to do with this?

I would think so at this point.

Id assume its the drive shaft or one of the half shafts..if not the rims tires or rear end what else is there?

I feel for you. I have a 1973 Charger that is the reason I bought my Challenger. In one year I rebuilt the transmission, put a rebuilt 340 in it, put a rebuilt 8.75 sure grip rear end and four new tires on it. At 60mph it felt like the drive shaft was trying to exit the car. I had the drive shaft balances, replaced two rims and one tire over the past five years and nothing has helped. I am pretty convinced it is just the tires flat spotting because I just don't drive it much.

But regarding your problem, I bought four tires for my truck and from day one it has had a vibration that did not exist when it had its old tires from another manufacturer on them. I swear the damned things sat in the rack for so long at Sears that they were ruined before they were ever put on.

Insist that the dealer change all the tires and change to a different brand. Pirellis are infamous for flat spotting. We had a set on my Wife's Jag that was brutal. Every spring they would vibrate like mad for the first hundred miles or so, but it went away.

Well good luck I hope they solve the issue for you. Don't you just hate hearing well that's normal or that's as good as it's going to get or that's caused by an outside influence. I would bet they sit around and practice or chant those phrases. 15 SRT392 owner as well does your hood oil can or pop in and out when you wash it Because mine does on both sides of the scoop you can't even set a small bottled water on the hood without the hood popping in and out. I took it to the dealer oh that's normal they all do that it's because thin sheet metal. I call bs on that sorry for the rant but I would call SRT 1-855-778-8326 and open a case maybe just maybe they can help. I know I'm still waiting but good luck.

Mine does that too.

Im going to see how the new dealer does with this..they've asked me alot of questions over the phone when I made the appointment about what was done previously and the service write said they were setting a mechanic aside for me to ride with and review it with Monday am.

Not sue about the roof..hood does for sure and there are those mystery dents in the tops of the front fenders.
Don't rest your elbows on top of the fenders - use a multi-folded towel. The sheet metal is thin and will get waves / distortions from a persons' weight bearing down like that.

Seen a few cars like that...

Maybe they stripped a couple of the lug nuts on the wheel studs. If the lug nuts are not tightening correctly, that will give a vibration.

Also check your lug nuts yourself. I find air tools have a tendency to not give a good tight torque and will back off after a couple miles.
