Should be under Settings> Safety & Driving Assistance in the Uconnect settings

It's on all 3 of my Chrysler products with Auto transmission and Uconnect 8.4 radio.

2014 JGC
2015 Ram 3500
2017 Hellcat
True, Hill Start Assist on everything now.

For what possible purpose is it on an automatic car?
Exact same as its purpose on manual car. It will hold the car on incline. Not until gears engage - because they are engaged in "drive"... but until the engine torque over-powers the "slush" designed into the torque converter.

Depending on incline, remove foot from brake (and dont depress accelerator) an auto car will roll backwards on a hill. On flat ground it will roll forwards obviously.

Do You use hill assist instead of parking brake even when not on an incline? My son has a 16 392 shaker 6spd and he is always using the parking brake

Hill assist only works when the car is rolling. It will hold the rear brakes via the ABS until speed in sensed. It wears out rear pads quicker than normal too.

No, not the same purpose. Would an auto car roll back into object behind it? No, and if it did you only need one foot or you use the other foot too.
It is the first thing I altered in my car, I turned that feature off as it ruins the experience of driving a stick.

U connect update

Any update on the software update ? Please.
What update are you looking for? If you have a uaq or uas radio in a 2017 there is an update to 16.8
It is not downloadable yet on the site to those that have windows boxes. There was a huge thread on
this in some charger forum I was reading to learn how to get my radio updated to 16.8.
I don't believe its available yet because of several factors:

1. The update was posted on 4/21/17. If you take your car to the dealer they have a newer version posted 5/23
2. The web wont let you download it from a windows machine as the file is 9gig in size and is a self extracting zip.
Windows can't handle self extracting zips more than 4gigs. This tells you that car people should not be writing code.
(self extracting zips are really still zips. All you have to do is change the ext from exe to .zip and open the file with
7zip, WinRAR, winzip, ETC) Then you bypass limitations of self extracting exe's.
3. You need to access the site from a mac or chrome browser emulating safari. This will download a 7zip file.
4. If the dealer has a newer version you might as well wait for that version to come to the web or you will be updating again in a month.
More than likely though they will wait to post that version several more months so you believe they only have a few updates a year.

1,3,4 I found again on some charger forum talking about why you cant get the update and the tsb associated with the update. I am
a computer tech by trade so 2 is just from personal experience TS computers all day. That thread also talked about all the problems dealers are having getting the update to work as well. A guy posted the change log in the 8.4 uconnect upgrade thread. I personal had no issues following the change log directions once I got the usb formatted where the radio would recognize the usb update.
The only really bad thing I did not like is the instructions say you have to idle(run) the car until the update is done.(this was about 40 minutes for me and even the small v8 burns a bit of gas in 40 minutes just idling...LOL)

I downloaded the update in the beginning of May using Windows. I used the direct download of the 9G file as the Akamai delivery wasn't available. I didn't have any issues downloading, extracting or writing to a USB. I then updated the car. That being said, the update doesn't appear on the Uconnect site at this point. One can only speculate that they have issues somewhere. I've had no issues since the update and I had had a few annoyances prior to updating.

Hi everyone,

I have received some additional information regarding a software update for the 4th generation Uconnect system (available on the 2017 Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, Charger and the all-new Jeep Compass). After further investigation we have learned that the issue is due to a limitation in Windows operating system’s ability to package self-extracting zip files. Windows has a maximum size limit for self-extracting compressed files of 4GB and the software update is 9GB, which is where the issue is stemming from. However, if you have access to a Mac computer, the macOS operating system’s self-extracting compressed file size limit is significantly larger and as such is able to handle this update. So, in order to download this software update you will either need to visit your local dealership or use a Mac operating system to access the download from the driveuconnect.com. Reminder, this update is 9 GB so you will need a 16GB or larger flash drive, or a portable hard drive, and it will take a while. If I receive any additional information I will let you know!

Thanks , so what issues you had before the update? Did you have any issues related to the Assist button and calls from assist button? I heard someone posting that their call issue got resolved with the update.

Not sure how far of that is true.
