While At Work I Was Approached By A Police Officer Asking Me If I Owned A Green Challenger? At First I Was Thinking " Oh Great Someone Backed Into It". The Cop Then Told Me Its Worse Than That! We Walked Outside And The Pictures Are What I Saw! My Heart Broke! I Bought My Baby Brand New Right Off The Lot Just About 6 Months Ago!

I just watched a video the other day of a guy who got caught in the act keying an e Class Mercedes. The owner had a pole of some kind in his hand, and beat the crap out of the guy with it, and delivered numerous kicks to the head. He was KO'd....bystanders had to pull him off the young guy, and I bet the car owner is still in jail. It was disturbing to say the least.
This is why you may feel like the exacting revenge but you go from being the victim to being the criminal AND the car is still damaged.
I well understand how much we care for and protect our cars but it’s still just a possession and it’s insured as well.
I too would be sick coming out and seeing my car like that.

Citizen's arrest and he was resisting.....
I would not convict that guy even if he killed the offender and I would make his surviving family pay to fix his car.
Wtf is wrong with people?
That's the best question and I was wondering the same thing. If you ever figure that out, Please let me know because I'm not smart enough to figure it out.

I'm Sorry that this happened to you and Hope they make her as good as new for you!

I'm Glad that he was arrested, but I wish that it would've happened before he did that to your Challenger!

This just totally sucks and pray all goes well and you get your car back better than new!!!
I'm sorry but there is no way I could just sit and watch someone beat the sh.. out of my Challenger, especially like those pictures above, that windshield makes me pissed. I've cleaned up a broken windshield and back window, you rarely ever get all the glass even years later.

I worked way too hard to get it. Even if I didn't do the same thing to that person, I know they would get a piece of my mind and I wouldn't care who it is.

It makes me think about the people that say I wouldn't care if someone stole it, it would be paid off... yeah and you can pay another 5-7 years worth of payments and down payment when I already had been paying on one for years.

Also, it's kinda hard to prove they didn't swing first in most instances especially if no one is around... allegedly...
Damn shame what that loon did. Sorry OP

It’s okay if someone is around, just make sure to make the perp’s injuries mimic those that might occur from a fall off the curb.

I hate to even think something like this can happen; but, it obviously does. I've no idea what my reaction would be aside from immense anger. Beyond that I don't know. I do know after all was said and done, if I hadn't been made 100% whole with regard to repairs and any unreimbursed costs I had incurred, I have him back in court.
Tell the shop that "pre-loss" your car had absolutely zero glass contamination. Have them give you a written guarantee that every glass sliver from the entire interior has been removed and it's pre-loss condition has been restored.

Additionally let them know you will seek medical attention and be re-opening the claim and seeking additional damages if you get so much as a sliver.

Tell your insurance adjuster the same thing.

Damn! I would've flipped out too, but the thing in today's world, even the criminal can sue you back if you go nuts on them! Yes, it's better to keep your cool and not beat the crap out of the guy (if you found him) because you can get in trouble and insurance will pay for the car (hopefully 100%), but all the love and hard work and money you've done to your car feels like they've gone down the drain. And imagine you've waited and waited to get the car and this happens, precious time is wasted. I feel for the Kandy car and its owner, this is just plain screwed up!

agreed, some will say “dude, it’s just a car.... it can be replaced”. But I imagine seeing someone destroy your pride and joy that you worked so hard to obtain would be extremely difficult. keeping your composure would require the patience of a saint. I’m getting triggered just thinking about it 😣

Right. And that fits fine when the hurricane wipes out the garage but the family was safe. Or the collision where the airbags, crumple zones, and seat belts keep the passengers safe.

Some jackass intentionally damaging the vehicle is not in the same category. This is more like.... "Hand me $40k in cash." I light it on fire and burn it up. "Dude, it's just money. It can be replaced."

A citizen has no protection against a false arrest. If you make a citizen's arrest and the person is not charged and found guilty you can be sued for false arrest. In some areas of the county the defendant could claim he was having a bad hair day and get the charges dismissed.

I am not sure what is allowed in a citizen's arrest situation regarding the suspect resisting arrest. He could argue the reasons for the attempted arrest were false and he was resisting an attempted kidnapping or assault being made under the guise of a citizen's arrest.

While it would upset anyone to be sure to see his car treated at the OP's car is treated there is very little one can do about it at the time -- without risking dire consequences -- other than to perhaps film the incident to add more evidence to the charges that would probably be filed against the suspect.
