Hi all,
Having a issue in Sport Mode.
I move the gear selector into Manual. then as I accelerate normally, I use the right paddle to up shift to 2nd and then 3rd gear.
As soon as I get into 3rd gear, the car downshifts on its own 2 gears, causing the rev's to go over 3500 rpms.
Anyone else had this issue?
It only does it in Sport Mode using the paddles and does not happen in track mode at all.

Yes, I've had this issue on my 16 SPS. It's a faulty shift module. My car was doing that and it was freaking me out so I had the modules replaced by the dealer. It went away.

You are not holding the paddle in or pulling the shifter and holding it back are you? If you are then the car is programmed to drop to the lowest possible gear so you can stand on it. Thats normal. But if you are just clicking it in gear and its doing it on its own, then yes thats wrong.

AS ZXMustang noted, check your shifting procedure. If that's not it, take it to the dealer for a PCM Flash. They have flashed my trans 3 times. Oh, and more bad news, the boss wants you to work Saturday!

He's talking about the car downshifting instead when you activate the RIGHT paddle to UPSHIFT. Sounds strange, but it did happen with my car like that before they switched it out.

That is correct, that is exactly what it is doing.
Is there a charge of any kind when under warranty to fix this?

No, they should just replace it as long as you can reproduce it in front of them. Make sure you can make it happen when they want to see it.

I just took a ride and tried it in sport mode again, and it did not do it.
Not sure why all of a sudden it stopped, but I might not have driven far enough.
Going to keep testing and start writing a record down of what the transmission temp is, speeds, etc etc
However, I did notice something with the transmission temperature.
On the day it was downshifting 2 gears when I would try to upshift, the transmission temperature was over 150.
Today, it ranged between 79 at start up and 102 later on.
Do those ranges sound right?

With my car it was doing it usually after I first downshifted and when I upshifted it would go back from 2nd to 1st instead to 3rd. If you're in 1st it's hard to notice, cause it can only stay in 1st instead of going lower. Try activating the paddles slowly from the tip of the paddles. I think it would happen more when I did that. There's another thread around here somewhere with this problem.

Thanks for the info!
I am keeping a close eye on it, to see if it happens again.

Hi chipset35,
We would be more than happy to look into your warranty parameters further and offer our assistance should you choose to work with your dealership. Please feel free to send us a private message if this is something you are interested in.

Thanks Julie, I am still monitoring it, only did once since my last post.
I am beginning to think I am doing something wrong when I paddle shift.

Still doing it but sporadically, until this morning when it did it 3 times during a distance of 2 miles.
I was tired and drowsy....was in 2nd gear and upshifted using the paddle, and the car immediately downshifted 2 gears down into 1st.
Did it 2 more times, same situation.
If I could just pin it down to duplicate it for the dealer I would get it checked asap.
But, since it started again out of the blue, I need to pay more attention, as I don't want to bring it in if its a driver issue.
Like I said I was half asleep, so I am not sure if I used the tip of the paddle or the middle.
I will keep you all posted.

Try shifting up slowly to reproduce it. Sometimes also shifting down and then back up again did it for me.

Happened to me as well in the 2015. They replaced shift module and the steering wheel components.

I switched out my steering wheel to the SRT steering wheel a year or two ago and now I am also seeing this issue again appear more and more. It is possible that this is something that develops over time ..... which would totally suck ..........
