what can one expect when trading in a srt8 on a hellcat?
Trade in value!!! There are many sources out there you can use to see what you'll get for your car when you trade it in (personally I use kbb.com). As for the Hellcat... you'll be lucky to get a '15 Hellcat for MSRP.

So, go to the Dodge website, build your Hellcat ---> take that figure and subtract the trade in value... Voila! Expectation given! :bigthumb:

I went to KBB, NADA and several others to see what I could get for trade on my 2011 SRT8 IE Challenger. The dealership offered me $4000 less than what these sites say are the average trade in value. This seems to happen every time I trade in a car, websites say what the fair average is, dealers act like I slapped their momma when I ask for the fair trade in value KBB, NADA etc show. Where do these websites get their values from if no dealership will actually trade for these values?

They get the values from people who trade in the cars... Who takes the dealer's stupid first, second, or even third offer? Not me... Almost every time I buy a car I spend 3-4 hours negotiating and sometimes over several days... When I bought my GMC Acadia last year I ended up $4,500 better than the dealer's initial offer. When I sold my wife's 2010 SRT-8 to a dealer I got $5,000 more than their first offer. When I bought my 2011 Avalon a few years back trading in my Ford 500 I got $4,800 better than their initial offer.

I could go on and on, but the trick is to negotiate and don't be afraid to offer them very low and work to something reasonable. You can't blame the dealer for shooting a high price because many people take it!!! These days dealers always seem to be about $4-5K higher than what they will really take from a serious buyer who stands their ground.

To OP: There are dealers out there that will easily give you book trade in value and even more if you work at it... I had a deal started before negotiating on a Hellcat before I decided my AFR Cuda was good enough for me. He started out at $29K for our 2010 SRT-8 against a new Hellcat MSRP, and that was without negotiating... He gave me the same trade-in offer early spring on a new Corvette. Seelye-Wright in Michigan... Talk to Jayd and tell him Paul (he will know me as the guy who traded in the silver Viper on an SRT-8 a couple years ago) sent you. I don't know if he has sold his allocation (if there really is one), but he is a fair guy and is the General Manager.

It's the oldest trick in the book. Dealers intentionally lowball your trade. it puts you on the defensive, and makes you think less analytically. Entire books have been written on the subject. The best move is to negotiate the vehicle purchase price, the trade in price, and the financing separately. Dealers try to mix all three up so you get confused.

Just come back at them with an offer $4k over what the fair trade in value is. Meet in the middle and you win.

Did you not figure your trade-in with the dealership before ordering your HC?
No, originally I was planning to keepi current SRT8 and get the Hellcat. But plans change as they say and now I'm looking to sell or trade in the current SRT8.

Not sure what the dealers use to determine the true trade-in value of cars…I've heard of Kelly Blue Book of course, but recently while I was at another dealer, they told me they use "Black Book" for value.

The only thing I do is give my trade-in an honest look as to condition, look at whatever book value and don't back down on it when you negotiate the trade-in value….it's a given that they WILL try to lowball you on it.

BTW, 14SiXTy nailed it! I went to a dealer years ago, and asked the guy about the sticker price of a car…he then asked me if I were trading in the car I drove there in, and how much would I be putting down?? It became obvious to me that the dealer was trying to arm himself with as much info as he could so he could work the numbers in his favor. It's in the game!

This guy has it right. Dealers use Kelly BLACK Book for their trade in prices NOT Blue Book. These prices are always lower. Your best bet is to sell the car yourself where you can get Blue Book prices. Also, I think their might me a increase in used SRTs coming into dealerships as well to trade in for a Hellcat. This could also affect the price. CarMax is also an option that people have had success with as they will buy your car without needing to purchase one of theirs. In either case, good luck and I hope you get a fair deal for your car.

go to a place like carmax if they are in your area. Free offer and the few cars I had valued there came in right around KBB numbers...take that print out with you and go to your dealer, if they really low ball you show them the offer, let them counter and make your choice after their counter.

You need to negotiate from a position of strength.

Heck even if they low ball you by less than a $1000 from a place like carmax then you might as well just go along with the dealer due to the tax difference.

I didn't have a good experience at CarMax. They offered me 3500 less than the dealer I'm trading my 2013 Ram to for my 2015 Challenger. With the sales tax savings on the trade it is a much better option in my case. That's something that should factor in to your decision when adding the numbers up.

I was at the dealer today getting a 2015 Challenger SXT. I asked about the Hellcat. They said they were only allotted 4 for the year. THey also said they add a $25,000 ADM sticker! Holy ****! And no one has complained yet. They have sold 3 of their 4.

I dont know if I could sleep at night paying a $25k premium. that puts it over 100k. For that money Id rather get a '70 from Graveyard Carz.
