Got to snooping around the stock air box since I noticed the lid won't close. Whatever filter was in there was too thick so I swapped it out for a K&N.

The bottom of the box is mostly open and just below it is a hole that I assume goes to a cold air source at the inner fender. Has anyone tried sealing the bottom of the box to that hole so hot engine air does not get in?

I don't want to put in a CAI right now and really don't want to start another tireless debate on CAI's either.

The new SRT8 airbox seals the bottom air box to the bottom hole, however, it is also a bit larger and triangular. You could probably seal it up with no problems if you find the material to do it with.
