Im so pissed. I bought my 17 SCAT used in January. I held off on activating the SXM guardian stuff because from the minute I got the car, it had some sort of screen issue with the 8.4 Uconnect. The screen looked like it was delaminating from the inside. So I brought it in about a week after purchase, and the dealer swapped it. No problem. Nice new (or so I thought) radio. Works and looks flawless. Now...I try to activate the SXM guardian stuff through the radio. That works too. Signed into my account and there is the car ready to be remote controlled.

Heres the problem. None of the remote controls work. They fail every time. So after a few days of messing with this, I call SXM Guardian from the car. They say everything is setup correctly. Should be working. They verify everything on the account and its all right.......except the VIN!!! The Vin they have on file for this account is not the vin of my car. No problem. They cancel the account and have me reactivate it. SAME THING HAPPENS. Turns out the dealer did not change the VIN on the new radio to mine. Only the Radio ID for the SXM radio. So now that we figure out this, the SXM guardian people need to open a ticket to have their accounts team change it. That was two months ago. Since then, I tried to register the car on the my mopar site. It says that for my car Im a NON-OWNER. And guess what, that other vin that my radio is tied to is also on my account now, and it shows Im the owner of it... WAT???

So I have called and called the SXM people. They blame this on the dealer. I took it back to the dealer and they claim all is correct and blame it on SXM. FCA has been called and they blame it on SXM Guardian and nobody will fix this. So again I called last night and screamed at them to escalate this to the top of the mountain. They claim that someone will call me in a few days.

Today for grins I tried the SXM guardian app from inside my work. I tried to remote unlock my car. AND IT WORKED!!!!! YAYAY right??? WRONG. Its working alright, but its working on this other car that I dont own. I can remote lock, unlock, remote start and sound the lights and horn. I tested this to see if it was my car, and its not. The commands are coming back green saying they worked. I did not try the remote start just in case this persons car is in a garage or something. I can also locate their car... This is getting ridiculous. I mean its been over two months that three different companies have been working on this trying to correct it. The dealer now wants to replace the radio again and request a brand new one from their parts people. Not a reconditioned one. Im ready to let them. I did not want this because repeated removing and installing of the dash will most likely cause dash rattles in the near future. So Im going to call FCA today and let them know that I can remote control someone else's car and see if they can get a big time manager involved. Because in my eyes, this would be a HUGE issue on many levels. Safety, privacy and so on. Someone's head is going to roll for this.

Julie,

Since posting this, I contacted Dodge customer service this morning. I was handed to a Uconnect Case manager named Lauren. She didnt seem to care much that I am able to remote control another person's car in another state. As a matter of fact, she said it shouldnt be possible for me to do this... So I challenged (pun intended) her that I would find the car on my app and locate the owner with her on the phone. She told me that she was going to take my SXM Guardian ticket number and call them to see what can be done. So I hung up and proceeded to locate the owner of the car I was controlling. I was able to locate the car a few states over from me, and get an address to the business it was parked at. Sure enough the owner worked at that address and commented that they thought it was insane that I was able to control the car. They said it was locking and unlocking itself this morning while they were driving on the freeway to work. That was when I was testing the app this morning. So its indeed controlling their car. I insisted that they also call dodge and SXM Guardian, which they are going to. I sent the person a screep cap of the map location and address of their car. Im sure they are going to be calling a lawyer too at this point. So now you have two customers that are pissed. And for good reason. If you still need me to PM you I will, but I think that person from dodge customer service is working on it along with SXM guardian. This is a very serious problem and Im appalled its been taken so lightly.

Thank you for elaborating on this further. Yes, please send us a PM with the requested information as soon as possible. Like I said, we want to look into this further and make sure the proper teams are contacted.

My issues still have not been resolved. I was still able to remote start, unlock and so on, that other person's car. I called in personally to have my account canceled so I no longer had access to remote manager her car. She ended up calling her local police to have a report filed at the dealers advice. I spoke to her police department to verify that I was not trying to hassle her and that this was completely civil and peaceful. But we are both at the point where lawyers are going to be called. Dodge has opened a case, and asked for pictures of my radio screens with all the hidden dealer info. Those were submitted weeks ago, and still no resolution. This is frustrating. I have had this car since 1/11 in the chicagoland area. I really could have used the app remote start function for basically the last half of winter seeing as how I DD my car. I have to park very far away from where I actually work.

Sounds like you are getting the same run around I am with my issue with my back up camera. I wish you luck getting your issue resolved.

I'm glad I logged on today. I also have been having issues with my '17 Challenger since it was new relative to the display. My original problem raised 3 to 4 times was - the screen locking up and locking my phone as well, growling sounds from the speakers, and it would randomly not recognize the USB drive playing music. I could usually unlock it if I shut down, got out of the car, got back in the car and restarted!!! Finally the NAV system went bonkers and showed me going opposite to my actual direction.
Two weeks ago they replaced the screen and the 4 computers that run it!
Now, the left channel drops out (new problem) and it still randomly doesn't see my USB drive.
I see a fundamental design and/or manufacturing flaw with FCA "consoles". This option was EXPENSIVE.
I will go back to the dealer again, but I am now fully regretting buying this car.
It had some other issues that I didn't pick up on during the test drive, which I have learned to live with, but because of the "console" issues I am looking into invoking Florida's Lemon Law.
I don't know who Julie is, but if she monitors this and is part of the FCA corporation, and doesn't want people to turn their back on Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep, the whole bunch, this would be an area to really focus corrective action.
ZXMustang seems to have the worst situation, and also makes me wonder if I should have bought the Mustang instead.

It's been a long time but I felt I should report my results. I discovered, by accident or good fortune, that my left speaker drop out was actually the speed limit audible warning. Its volume is very low relative to the radio volume and I caught it under unusual conditions. This feature was not activated in my original system. I found it in the NAV system, disabled it, and no more left speaker problems. OOPS, I just admitted I went over the speed limit, I promise I'll never do that again...……………….
The USB occasionally gets lost, but it eventually recovers it.
