Just finished installing a TR tensioner and it was more involved than I thought. I had to unbolt the radiator fan and drop it down a bit just so I could mount the tensioner and insert a 1/2" breaker bar to get enough slack on the belt. This sucker has ALOT of torsion...required double the effort the Dayco tensioner to get enough slack in the belt. Took me almost 1hr to install and put the belt on (why they use a socket head instead of hex is beyond me). Also I don't know why they did not design the setup so the belt sits in the middle of the idler (see yellow dashed line in image below)? With the Dayco tensioner if I downshifted from 4th to 3rd and got on it the belt would chirp...hopefully this is the fix.

Now I wonder how long the bearing on the water pump (and in the SC snout) are going to last with all this preload? Right now I am trying to source metal version of the smooth and grooved idlers as I am not a fan of the plastic pulleys.

Not having much luck finding metal version of the idler pulleys. Looks like the +2015 models use smaller pulleys.

Here are some nice ones from Thump but the grooved one is ~6mm larger in diameter which shouldn't be a problem.

The top one replaces idler #6 and the bottom one replaces idler #1.

Think I found the pulleys...both are dayco:

EP273 - grooved (sourced primarily from AU)

Gates 36326 - grooved (closest match that can be bought cheaply in the US)

89052 - smooth

:smile:Trying out the new Akaso sport camera...took a quick vid of the TR tensioner (set your volume low). Too bad I did not do this with the dayco tensioner. My metal idlers are coming this thursday...they are steel and a steal compared to the aluminum ones.

Update 2/14/2018:

The metal idlers arrived and the Gates 36326 (grooved) fit with no issue. The slight increase in diameter barely registered on the belt tensioner and belt runs smooth.
