Good afternoon all, I just purchased a 2018 Challenger SXT and also ordered the Trackhawk exhaust tips to have installed before I pick the car up. The Dodge dealership just advised me that the tips have arrived but they aren’t compatible with the car. My understanding is that they should just bolt on the same way as the OEM tips. Is there a difference between the mounts for the SXT versus the R/T and higher trim levels? Thanks in advance.

SXT tips bolt on to the muffler. They're "fake" exhaust tips.

Tips on6.2, 6.4 and 2017+5.7 engines bolt on to the exhaust, which is how the trackhawk exhaust works.

You can have a shop weld them in? They might meed reducers from 2.75 to 2.25, but they should rig something up if you want it that badly

Welcome to Challengertalk ;) The SXT tips are just the Bright Tips that bolt to the rear fascia

The stock tail pipes just go into the opening of the tips and do not touch them. The Trackhawk tips have the ball joint type/clamp on that the V8 cars have and will bolt right on to those

Gas Composite material Auto part Bumper Nickel

As mentioned the V6 pipe size is also smaller. It would be very difficult to use the Trackhawk tips

As mentioned, you could have an exhaust shop make them work for you. It will cost you some fabrication dollars, but the Trackhawk tips you liked and bought would not be lost.

I have a question about my wife's 2020 G/T AWD with black top package. Her tips are chrome even though she has the Black Top package. I know I never really paid attention to it before when washing her car but, this time I made the mistake of asking her about it. She would like the black ones. I see a bracket to attach to the tip with screws is sold. Does anyone know if the black ones can be attached to that bracket and mounted in the car? I have a Hellcat exhaust on my R/T and they are black I might just put those on her car and put my old Chrome ones from my R/T on mine. I may just order her black ones for her car.

I searched and can find no part numbers for black tips for an SXT or G/T

No OEM black bright tips were ever offered on a V6. I'm not sure about this bracket you mention, link? You should be able to find tips that actually attach to the tail pipe but the diameter and length would have to be right. The stock tail pipes do just end before the rear fascia

Are you sure she wouldn't prefer a complete cat back system? :p

They mount to the tip and then to the facia.

Those are just cosmetic inserts, they just fill the space. The tips bolt to the fascia through them. This is my guy reinstalling them after removing the stock tips
