I find my kenne bell's transition to be less than smooth and only comes on when I have the throttle more than 50%. I used to have another car with a centrifigal type supercharger (vortech) that you could never feel it kick in, it just went and thus the transfer between was much smoother when going from a light throttle vacuum situation to a boost situation from medium to heavy throttle application. Is this in the programming or is this typical of a roots type supercharger?

Most of the non-centrifugal superchargers have a vacuum operated bypass valve built in. No boost is delivered to the engine until the vacuum drops to zero, then the bypass closes and boost is delivered. This is why you feel a kick in the seat at heavy throttle.
