HIDs are nothing new to me but why i keep having this problem on my car is besides me… This has been an on going problem I've been having with a couple kits I've had. Everything was working fine and my headlights would always turn on. I have the 55w kit and all my connections are soldered and grounds located at factory places. Last night my headlights wouldn't turn on suddenly, then 10 minutes later they randomly come on. This happened again today. Now they won't turn on at all. I got a DMM out and tested a spot on the power wire at my 12v and its getting power from the source, past the fuse. Once it gets to the relay however i no longer have 12v as i tested the power wire and ground that connect to the actual bulb. Something keeps happening to my relays causing them to go out. What is going on here?

Its worth noting that i also have HIDs in my fog lights and never once have they not turned on. Ive had to replace relay harnesses over and over with my headlights to solve the problem until eventually it would stop working again. So when i got the 55w kit i replaced everything thinking that might solve it… apparently not… I'm baffled as to whats causing problems here.

Its the 55 watt balist... There nothing wrong with having the 55 watt balist but it puts more strain and heat on the harness and that makes the Relay go out faster! I had this happen a couple times when i owned my R/T...... Luckily my SRT8 came with Factory HIDs, but if it helps what i did to remedy the problem is add a capacitor to the harness and if you want too you can also delete the relay all together, cut it out the system and connect all the correct wires together! I took my HIDs off the R/T before i traded it in and installed them on my girlfriends 12 Chevy Impala and im having the same issue with her car..... Its eating up Relays like crazy and it does not help that she has daytime running lights so they are on all the time that she drives unless she remembers to cut them off! Pm me if you have any more questions im sure i can help you out.
