Call me old fashioned, but have been disappointed with how difficult it was to just search for the answer i wanted about rims. Soon I will be the proud owner of a 2015 Challenger R/T soon, pitch black with ruby red interior. I got the 6 speed with the super track pack.

I want to start looking for some cheap rims to slap a nice set of slicks on for the 1/4 mile. I have read a lot of posts about people having issues with the SRT's because of their awesome brakes, but have found little info on R/Ts. The reason i say im old fashioned is because i want to run a set of m/t's or hoosier wheels with side walls that can collapse and give a whole lot a traction. All i could find was people talking about running 18" nitto tires still trying to look fly on the track. Some guys are even using 19 - 20" for rims at the tack? I'm hoping you guys can push me in the correct direction with this toward a 15 or 16" rim option.

1. Are charger rims interchangeable with challenger rims through all new generation years of production? (2009 +)

2. What size are the police car rims and are they a popular slick rim option?

3. Do 275s / 10.5" tires fit under the back without moving quad shocks, massaging fender walls ect? I probably wont go that big, but it is nice to know.

4. What is the smallest rim that will fit over the R/T brakes? Are the brakes the same with the super track pack?

I would like to go with a factory wheel option since its easy to locally find. Either a charger/challenger/police rim. I have read people using cobra r rims but they needed to grind out the lip and hole for the brake dust cap? There has to be an easier option.

If there is a 15" or 16" factory rim out there i can use (rear only) let me know!

I run american muscle P/N 10080 cobra knock offs. They are $129 each. I have three sets.
I run 275/40/17 (26" tall) M&H Racemasters, 275/50/17 M&H (28" tall) and Hoosier 315/35/17 (25.5" tall).

They all fit fine under a SRT so they will under a R/T.
The center of the rim will need to be ground out a mm or two with a die grinder so they will fit over the hub.
Easy to do. They are 114.3mm X 5 instead of 115mm X 5 but they all center fine.

Cobras with m&h drag radials work great. Low cost and easy to find.

The regular cobra or cobra r wheels? Could we run any 17" mustang wheel then or do we need a certain offset and backspacing?

Don't know what back spacing a R/T needs but SRTs need a lot to clear the breaks. Especially the fronts if you are dong all four. You may be able to get away with regular mustang wheels on a R/T but don't know that for a fact. Lots of DR choices in 17", the offerings get less and less the bigger diameter you go.

The high HP guys run 15in rims. However you have to change the brakes.
Just work and money is all. Same some guys run a chevy trans also.
Im happy with the 17in cobra knock offs myself with 28x10 Hoosier wrinkle walls. I get 1:50 60fts Hope that helps.
In fact about to order another set and have another option on hand for street racing.
Slicks dont work on the street, so I want to try the M&H et drags radials or something in that line.

Are they 26" tall? If so your car will sit lower in the rear by up to almost 3'' depending on the dia of your fronts.
The M&H 275/40/17s are 26" tall. The shorter tire will give you a gearing benefit too which is worth almost a tenth. Makes the 3.06 A5 ratio around 3.23. If you can get over the looks, they are second fastest of my 3 sizes of DRs. The Hoosier 315/35/17s are 25.5ish tall and they are the quickest ET. They put me just shifting into 4th in the traps but the gearing more than makes up for the shift.
With my 275/40/17 M&Hs (26" tall) and my tune, I can make it 1320' in 3rd at a little over 6600 RPM. I can only hook in the spring and fall with them though. Too cold or hot and the 392 toasts them.
So far the 315/35/17 Hoosiers hook in 100 degree heat so I'm really wanting to see what the will do in some good cool air.
Some say it looks like a circus train car with the shorter rears but then a lot of 5.0s, SSs and some vetts have had a real good look at them from behind me...

Yes they are 26" tires and I figured they would be shorter and I don't mind I'm not running them for looks anyways. My car is a 6-speed manual and I have 3.92 gear ratio. Hopefully these tires hook up good on the track I've never ran radials before was hoping to try them out Friday, but as of right now their giving rain.

Wow they fit a big rim. Way bigger then I plan to run. Thanks for the response with the tire diameter.

I am a mustang guy (1990, 5.0L) and it makes me sad to see so many guys using original cobra R’s for drag rims haha. American Muscle does have great deals on rims and tires with good shipping.

I’m going to keep searching for the factory route. I forgot to mention I am only looking for rims to use on the rear. Looks like smallest I can get over the brakes is a 17” rims?

Does anyone use these for slicks? They’re a charger rim I believe that is 7” wide.

Hahaha - excellent. I run that tire too - and it looks even more out of place on my bracket vehicle - but like you said looks don't count in drag racing.

I told you that tire would stick!! Useless on the street - it's basically a slick with two DOT rain grooves. But man does it hook nice. I ran about 18 psi in mine and actually got sidewall wrinkle on the launch despite being a super short aspect. Burned my down to shreds after hundreds burn-outs and passes - time for a new set!

I was really surprised how well they did. Hotter than heck and no slippage. I didn't stall her up very high but did four passes with a 1.82X 60'. My M&Hs didn't like the heat at all as my 60' times varied .1, even when they hooked. I'm sold for sure plus they rode awesome on the highway. My 275/50 M&Hs liked to wander a lot but these are like riding in a caddy.

A .1 variance on the short time is death to a bracket racer. I suspect you'll be winning a lot more of those close ones now with a more consistent tire.

It rides that way because those tires literally have no sidewall support. Don't try to go around a corner too fast! What psi are you running in them? Have someone snap a pic of your launch - you'll see sidewall wrinkle.

Well I'm disappointed in the m/t street radials. Ran 10psi in them and It never hooked once off the line launching at 3000rpm's. 76 degrees and 94% humidity.
