i have done a cars.com search now for 3 weeks...ive seen 1-2 new 392's within 100 miles....im doing it to see how many IE's are in WI, but my 100 mile search also covers the Chicago area.

there is 3 non IE 392's ...thats it...why?

the ie's are done and the regular 392's were being produced alongside the IE's.....where are they all?

i find it strange that every dealer doesnt have 3-4 of them by now....most dealers have 0 or 1 IE

Well, if you play with the search, I found over 300 non-IE 392s around the country on cars.com.

Still, it's a good question--that's not many to go around. The only STR8s within 100 miles of me are the IE I ordered, and a 2010 B5 (that btw was just marked down to $38k--auto w/sunroof).

Here in NJ they are rare. Odd because people will buy cars like animals in this state. I think because of the economy, dealers do not want to have 50k cars sitting on the lots. It is a niche market. There are still many 2010 SRT's on lots. I have only seen 3 IE's and 1 regular new SRT on the lots (6 dealerships). I am sure some were ordered and picked up that same day too.
That's not a bad thing either, ever notice a SRT on the roads? They really POP because they are rare and I like it that way.

my original comment wasnt about the lack of IE's, but the lack of regular srt8's 392's

shouldnt there be more regular srt8's by now than IE's?

my 100 mile search give me around 15 IE's, but 3 regular srt8's

shouldnt it be 50 regular srt8's by now????

I was wondering the exact same thing.
We get to enjoy the limelight until the other 392's hit with all the colors combo's.

I think maybe dodge made a mistake allowing *any* unsold IEs to be produced. How special is a dealer optioned limited run car anyways? So far, every dealer I've talked to says that whenever they order their cars, especially from "limited runs" they always just order them "loaded"--meaning all the unsold inventory wind up being optioned *exactly the same*.

I've noticed this to be nearly entirely true. Almost every stock IE listed on cars.com is auto w/sunroof + everything else... I guess it never occurs to them to see if sunroofs are popular on a car w/full-length body stripes, or manual trans. on a muscle car...

I suppose with this logic that should make the one I ordered worth more because it's manual w/o sunroof. And, I must say, it looked *fantastic* with the roof stripe uninterrupted.

I just test drove a Black w/ Silver stripes, no sunroof, 6 speed 392 yesterday from Baxter. Wow what a car! :bigthumb: Can't wait for mine to get here. I know Baxter still has a bunch of IE's and just a few regular SRT8's between their stores right now.

i think most are loaded because someone who is buying a $50k car wants everything....when your spending $46k what is another $3k to get every option....i originally ordered a stripped 6 speed, but ended up buying a loaded automatic......while on my 6 month wait for my car i started thinking about the sun roof and Nav....ill be honest that i took what was available in White, but i dont regret it...a sun roof is always fun and the NAV is awesome

Less is more for me...
I don't want nav - will the service/support be available in the future?
I don't want a sunroof; I have just enough hair to get tousled when it's open
I don't want all the e-techy stuff - A radio and CD player is sufficient.
I want a simple muscle car...
...less is more for me.

Whar all da 'un-loaded' SRT8s at?

...methinks there are some transportation and delivery problems.

I feel the same way. I really don't need the techy stuff--but I like the bigger amp in the stereo--gonna need it to hear any music over the roar of the hemi.

I agree with an earlier post that said: "there are only two kinds of sunroofs: ones that leak, and ones that are going to leak"... More moving parts means more things that can break. Plus, it adds what, 200lbs to the car? That's like driving around with another passenger all the time, and it lowers the interior roof space. The windows in the doors are enough for me.

Well, for many people it could mean the difference between affording it or not--I'm sure there are many people that are stretching as it is just to buy one in the first place. The same can be said about any car in any price range for many people. There is a great deal to be said for being able to get exactly what you want and not having to pay extra for stuff that you don't want. It's akin to bundling.

For me, a sunroof adds $950, and I don't want it, so I'm not going to pay for it. Same for the Mopar interior appearance option: $780, and it does nothing for me, so I'm not gonna pay for it either. And while the $100 for the upgraded tires may seem like chump change, in some locations it actually means you'd have to spend another $1000 for a set of dedicated winter tires in addition--so that "little" $100 "loaded" bonus is actually an $1100+ increase in expense--not even counting the fact that the F1s don't last very long so they have to get replaced sooner...

I'm usually a "no-to-low" options Muscle car buyer. My SRT8s are/is not a daily driver so the "Tech-y" things add little value for me.

That said, my new 2011 SRT8 is full of options. I would have passed on it if the car didn't look so good AND/OR the deal they gave me. But I digress...

FYI: My 2009 SRT8 was a "stripper" and when I traded it in, the appraisal guy mentioned that they'd probably have a hard time selling the car because it didn't have a sunroof. I told him that I know of guys who drive hundreds of miles just to get a sunroof delete car. Anyway, he appraised my car fairly (wow these things have a high trade-in value) and we settled on a deal.

Well, 200mi around the Philadelphia area and there are 85 SRTs. Only 16 of them are non-IEs (69 IEs for those mathematically challenged). So way more IEs than non-IEs so far.

I'm waiting on a new order myself, and if I wanted an IE, no problem getting one of those. I think there will be quite a few of those sitting on dealer lots come June/July. If the IE came with non-white seats, I'd have picked out a loaded DWB, pulled the stripes off, and been happy with that.

I think this is a great topic. There are very few SRTs here where I'm at and I've seen no other 392s on the road, but the dealer here sold 3. As stated in a previous post there were 10 IEs at the dealer in Huntsville where I got mine and no non-IEs. But after reading through the forums (and this post) I get a little pissed because it would seem that at this point the non-IEs seem to be more rare than the "limited" version. So it makes me question my decision change from a black SRT and that Billet Silver color with the grey stripe is a great combo! So I guess we'll see what pops up at ChallengerFest. Right now I'm fighting the itch to create my own special edition.

Did a 500 mile search in Washington State and it's about 50/50 split here.

Well, huggy, looks like you've got you a real special ride there... just like everyone else. LOL

just kidding

I am sure dodge gave the IE top build priority because, hmm, maybe it was the inaugural edition.

More cars will come and none will be IEs.

RS posted on another thread that the only color you can order now is T0 due to paint shortage from Japan.

I'm predicting that Black, Red and Billet 2011 cars are going to be very rare and valuable :) Unlike the dime a dozen IEs. I can easily see them bring 200K in a few years. People will be buying IEs ripping off the special edition plaque, replacing the seats and painting them to sell them as non-IEs.
