If you drive your car in winter weather too I'd get the R/T instead. Easier to manage and brakes to clear 18" snow tires with wheels. I'd imagine getting 20" snow tires for the stock SRT rims would be costly.

I've been more than happy with my R/T. As mentioned earlier, it's a great bang for your buck.

SRT has a lot more power though and would be more fun to drive. If you can manage it I'd look for a second hand 392. It has much greater low end punch than the 6.1.
