does the rt waste less gas? it’s so weird to me, on don’t understand why they wouldn’t apply the tax?

The RT has a combined MPG rating higher than what is required for the tax. An auto scat pack doesn't have either, but the standard scat pack does. You can thank MDS for that.

It's a convoluted system the way they figure if you qualify for the tax, it's just not as simple as looking at the combined rating, if it was then only the SXT would escape the tax, all other Challengers are under 22.5 mpg combined and would be subject to the tax. Using the system, the R/T automatic works out to about 24.2 combined so it's in the clear on the GGT.
