Hey guys I have a hp tune and pcm on my car and I just bought a diablo pcm to give that a try with a different tuner. If I remove the hp pcm will I lose that tune. Also I might be selling the hp pcm later so if interested be on lookout.

Thanks

Wont lose the tune, however

You may want to reconsider selling a pcm with a modified tune already because everyones setup will be different

Either way the buyer will have to vin match

Just curious why switch to diablo from HP?

I recently did just the opposite

No you won't lose the tune..HP and DS are just different tune software that do the same thing..HP is custom only to your car and DS can be canned or custom tuned. what is your end game ? sounds like you're spending money for nothing..

Ya it does super suck that i spent the money on the hp tune. But i want the t2 platinum display bc hp doesnt have one for challengers. I want to get the car tuned by jay green and although he can tune the car with hp I would need to buy the mpvi2 plus the credits and the cost for his services. I also wanted the tazer for the performance pages and track times. But I was told tazer is problematic. That being said the price of the hp tune and tazer was the same price as the diablo pcm , t2 platinum and his custom tune. Also I'm soon going to install the 6.4 manifold which is going to require a retune if i use the 6.4 injectors.

I see your angle, jay greene is supposed to be a great tuner he tuned someones ram on youtube shooting for fastest NA 5.7 impressive stuff with his cam too

However I think it would be easier for you to find a local tuner to use hp tuners on the dyno

You can also still buy a diablo headunit, and fully monitor all the data with an Hp tuners pcm. Works just fine , you just cant tune it with the diablo anymore

Good luck

Hmm that I didnt know sir thank you for telling me. I did get the car dyno tuned but I'm in San Antonio and all the shops are ford or ls most are like we dont really do mopar but we can still do it... doesnt sound to convincing even though I did go with the tuner bc I installed lontubes and other parts. But thank you for letting me know.

What kind if numbers did she make?

The basics on tuning remain the same on most na cars, as long as you find a reputable guy with good equipment you should be gold.

I.e. a good chevy tuner is just a good tuner

Took me a while but i would keep looking!

It made 360whp and 400 torque
It got tuned at a mustang specialist shop on a mustang dyno.

Poke around the forum, another member here made around the same numbers as you, na bolt ons headers high flow cats and catback.

I have most of the same mods (cam soon ) and my tuner got me up to 346 / 420 . Factor different dyno situations and tuners as well, the real question is how much MORE can one guy squeeze out without more mods?

Not saying it isn’t possible, but maybe negligible

The tune resides on the PCM so you'd basically have 2 tunes to choose from. Kinda like the Demon with 2 PCMs (kinda, lol)

I have both T2 and Tazer so here's my 2 cents.
There is very little redundancy between Tazer and either of the tuning platforms other than Tazer unlocks Performance Pages which give you some gauging options to display a few of the PID's available on the T2 display or data logs on either tuning platform. As for problematic, maybe. I have had some glitches to sort through. I had an issue with TC not completely turning off which resulted in IPW being severely decreased for a small fraction of a second approximately 1/4 second after launch. It was resolved by turning off TC in the race tune. Don't know if the problem is with Tazer, PCM, communication between, or something else. In any case consider taking Tazer out of you evaluation between HP & DS.

I don't find the T2 display to be very useful while in motion. I have the T2 mounted upper left of windshield and find the data too small to see well while in motion. Maybe that has something to do with 71 year old eyes but, something to consider. Maybe that could be overcome with a custom screen with a couple of PID's displayed large.

The T2 does have the advantage that one does not need a laptop connected to datalog or view PID values but is not without it's glitches. I have experienced numerous failure to save log, failure to save adjustments to the tune, and hangs that required rebooting. What I find most disturbing is T2's inability to log wide band AFR. There is a long discussion about that subject on DS forum, DS stopped responding to comments several months ago. Jay Greene is my current tuner, I give him AFR data by taking a video of tach and AFR gauge.

I have communicated with DS tech support a couple of times, their reply's have not been helpful. As well there is a recent post that indicated no response from DS but maybe that is a Covid-19 related situation.

Can't remember where but I saw a discussion that HP tuners is working on a device that will allow data logging and viewing without a laptop in the car. Don't recall the schedule or specifics but it may be worth investigating.

Hope this is helpful.
