The tape used from the factory on the wires in the engine bay is a cloth like material.
I had to lenghten my AIT wiring when I put on the Mopar long ram CAI recently and want to tidy up the spliced area a bit but cannot find the same type of tape.
And of course the dealer was no help, told me to go to auto parts store, which I have tried a few and all they have is the plastic looking electrical tape.:(
Somebody here has got to know where I can get the matching tape!

I think you'll find that there is a difference between harness tape and common hardware store friction tape, harness tape has no adhesive.

Go to ebay and search "split braided sleeving" ...you will find exactly what you want. I covered all the wires in the engine bay of my R/T with this sleeving. I used a scissor to cut it and then held a lighter under the edge to melt/seal the fibers so they didn't fray.

True. But $2.29 for 30ft one can hardly complain plus it looks similar in pattern to factory coverings for short runs or touch ups.

Yearone has the non adhesive tape. I used it on my 69 Chevelle. Hope this helps.

This is what I was thinking of for long runs and replacement covering. I know friction tape will get sticky but that usually goes away over time and only for covering the exposed loom ends and stuff from weather intrusions.
