Hi all,

I started some topics couple of months ago about the issues I am having.

Now those issues are not gone, they only gotten worse, I am just going to copy paste what I wrote on reddit. It is pretty long but explains my whole experience, I am hoing it would help some people to make the right decision. I am almost 60k deep with no way out in foreseeable future.

Here it is:

So, here is a detailed story as far as I can remember all the details. Custom ordered my SPWB Shaker, F8 Green with Caramel interior, Stick Shift around February. Picked her up on April 16th with a damaged side skirt molding, they ordered the part and had to bring it back 2 weeks later so they can fix it.

Anyways, shifts felt a little rough from the day one, especially into second gear. I thought that was just the Tremec Characteristics, consulted the dealer, they also told me it was fine. So I drove around, cruising 30-40mph usually to break in the engine, old habit.

After a while I realized that the second gear was just getting rougher everyday, so I took it to the dealer, took a techinician out for a ride, he acknowledged the problem, drove back, buddy of mine picked me up as I live 23 miles away from the dealer, I didn't ask for a loaner or anything. I believe this was May 18th-ish.

Next day they call me and tell me they couldn't replicate the problem and I have to pick up the car, so I drove my old beater there. Picked up the car, drove it half a mile down the road and the issue was still there. So I picked some other tech out for a ride and he immediately got it. I got into my old beater and drove back another 20 miles all for nothing.

At the same time, front wheels started making a clicking sound while on reverse. They fixed it.

Driver's door started making a creaking sound, they acknowledged, told me they tightened some stuff in there, it was good for 2 days and then it came back.

Hood wasn't sitting right, they adjusted that.

Anyways, I had to go to Massachussetts for work, I was going to be away for a while, so I asked for a loaner while they are fixing my car. They told me I can't take a loaner out of state and I certainly didn't want to drive my 97 ZJ 200+ miles to MA.

So I drove the Challenger to MA to figure it out with a dealer over there. I called one of them in the area, exact words from the head tech were "yeah, we're not touching that transmission buddy, you have to figure it out with the dealer you got it from". I called FCA explained everyhting, a dude named Greg told me it could take a while if the tranny needs to be replaced, so if I start the process in MA and they can't get their hands on a Tremec, my car would have to stay in MA for couple of months while I am back in NY.

He asked me if there is any way I can bring it to the original dealer. So I left work around 8pm that night, drove 200+ miles, dropped it at the original dealer in NY. Picked my ZJ, prayed to god that I would make iy back to MA and hit the road.

This was around 1700-1800 miles I believe.

I received a call couple of weeks later, they told me they replaced the synchronizers, second gear and some seals etc. So I prayed again, hit the road and miraculously my ZJ brought me back.

I picked her up, drove another 200+ miles back to MA, trying to make it back to work on time, which I did. On my lunch break, I took her for a ride, the issue was right there, little more faint, just like the first days.

I called FCA and the dealer, explained to them and they asked me to bring it back again. I explained that I can't for a while, and they said it was ok, whenever I could.

I came back to NY, brought her to the dealer on August 25th.

Since then they had the car, in the meantime FCA has contacted me to tell me that they are working with the dealer and taking care of the issue.

I received a call from the dealer on Sep 16th, telling me that the transmission, clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder has changed,

they can't figure out the issue with the driver's seat and apparently steering knuckles were all bad from the beginning and they are waiting for those parts to replace,

so the car is not fixed but it is "DRIVEABLE" and I can pick it up.

I called FCA, told them I do not want to pick it up until it is in perfect condition and I do not want a DRIVEABLE car, I want what I PAID for.

FCA guy Joe tells me I have to pick it up or else they will start charging me for the Loaner and Parking. Apparently there are other people with "more important issues" and they might need the loaner.

Bear in mind that, I drove my beater to MA and back, and a week ago I had to drive it to NJ to drop someone at the airport as I can't take the loaner out of state and that's when the engine gave up on my ZJ, so that's gonna cost me I don't know how much to replace the engine.

So now, the only car I have is the Challenger, I have no family, or any car to borrow from anybody, I need a car for my work and this dude is threatening me with the loaner and parking charge unless I pick up my half fixed car?

Now anyways, I said **** it, I closed my business early to pick her up.

Grabbed the keys, dropped the loaner. Started the engine, hit the clutch and she wouldn't go into any gear.

Called the tech, he tried for a while, then we finally rammed it into first, then second, then hardly reverse. Drove her around the premises for a bit, seemed like gears started getting better, we both thought it's because it's a new transmission and new other components.

I hit the road, half a mile down the road, going 30mph, trying to shift from 1st to 2nd, SAME GRINDING NOISE and it just shakes the whole car. Tried it from 3rd to second, same thing, tried rev matching, not that much of a difference.

I turned back, dropped her in the dealer and picked the loaner back up.

Tomorrow is going to be fun with FCA if they still refuse to give me a new car or a refund..

You need to find out what the lemon law requirements are for your state.
I did, it has to go back to the dealership 4 times because of the same problem, ot has to stay at the dealership morw than 30 days due to different problems.

The dealership waiting for a part from Dodge does not count. So basically they can try to fix it 3 times, waiting for 12 months for each part and I wouldn't have a car for 3 years. That's literally what I understand from the law.

The dealer and FCA also been playing with the dates that my car has stayed in the dealer so it is not 30 days.

Like I bring it to them on 18th, and they would put it in aa 25th, or like yesterday, they called me to tell me that my car is haşf fixed and driveable and I have to pick it up or else they'll charge me, and the documents say it was out on 15th.

How can it be out on 15th if they call me on 16th to tell me to pick it up?

It's a huge stinkin bullcrap.

I would make both FCA & that particular dealers life a living hell if this was happening to me. This is crap what’s happening to you. Social media is a good platform and put them both on blast. Seek advice from an attorney asap.

damn this is pretty bad id be hella pissed off... i personally would demand a whole new transmission with the threat of escalating it to getting a lawyer and lemon law it if it wasnt provided and i wouldnt take any other offer or "fix" they tried to do. but as you eluded to lemon lawing is a painstakingly long process for some reason which is totally fed up that it is and you would proly need to get another car during the process of it if it came to that... so definitely lawyer up if you are forced to that route and save yourself a bunch of headache.

but bare in mind that even replacing the m6 might take a good amount of time and might be why dodge is playing this bs delay game. as i dont think dodge even has any m6 transmission at the moment do to supply shortages from covid was the last i heard. furthermore the m6 isnt an option anymore on the website from what i heard here and has been that way for a couple months or so now.

oh and also you dont have to get warranty work done at the dealer you got the car from. its the law that dodge has to honor the warranty as long as the work is done at a place that is dodge certified. so dont be doing that long driving bs thats total horse manure and is really the rage cherry on top of this whole situation.

Dodge Doesn't Care. But that probably is a consistent theme across all automakers. I like my cars, But the Experience with Dodge has to be about the worst for honoring warranty. Honda is the best at insisting you pay them to perform questionable maintenance. Mercedes is Great at charging you till you cry uncle! Chrysler is perfect at Crashing your car into stuff and acting surprised. Ford is perfect at creating failures at defined times. Chevy is perfect at not being able to diagnose mechanical issues. ... Don't get me going.

I would hire the best lawyer I could find that specializes in these kind of cases. This is totally out of control.
Man, so sorry but you do not have to put up with being treated like this!

The worst part is, I just opened a new business, I am way over my head with all the procedures, paperwork, permits, staff and whatever else I can't think of.

Now I am a one man operation at the moment and have to stop everything I am doing to pick up my non-fixed car and explain myself to Dodge or FCA. I have never ever been in a more ridiculous situation in my life up to this point, I just thought everything could be resolved in good faith and trust.

Apparently I was just wrong. I am looking for the best attorney on this in NY right now and going ask for help from some Social Media channels I have connections with.

It is just sad that it came to this point, all I wanted was this to be resolved. I have been really patient, all in good spirits and positive both to the dealer and FCA but apparently they are just trying to get whatever they can from me instead of winning a loyal customer and a customer base as I am not alone, I live in a small area and word gets around, no one is going to mess with Dodge or Ram around me now.

I would say it is their loss and at this point, I am willing to lose 10-20k or whatever if this proves Dodge wrong, I have all the documents and records and I just won't stop. They can do whatever they want with it now, I am pretty much ready for everything.

P.S I need to get a truck for my new business too and this makes my decision way easier.

Sorry to hear of the troubles you are having, but I'm not surprised. This is the" customer service" I have come to expect, but not accept from just about any company I deal with. They will do anything to get your $$$, and once they do, its a fight to the finish to get a problem corrected without hiring an attorney. Very few companies have any honor, nor do they actually/really care about the customer. Unfortunate, but seems to be the way of the times. Just my .02. Don't give up!

I did a lemon law/buy back with Ford in NY. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Every phone call too. Date, time and who you spoke with. As you found out, they will play with the dates on the invoices. Keep an eye on that. Be nice but firm. Let them know that this car is heading towards lemon law status. If you can tolerate another Dodge tell them to contact the regional rep about doing a buyback. A buyback is better for Dodge because the car won't be labeled as a lemon car. Dodge would buy your car back at sticker plus tax. The deal is however that you need to use that money for another car from the dealer. All incentives apply on the new purchase. My recommendation is push for the buyback. The dealer has no control over this, region rep must get involved. Good luck.

You got a lemon! Mechanical issues, creaking doors, hood out of alignment... Sounds to me like you may have received a refurbed flood vehicle. Call the state attorney and hire your own.

Here in Florida, they don't f-around with dealers. Back in 1980, I had purchased a Yamaha RD400 from a local dealer. At the end of the 30 days, I had not yet received the title, so they issued me another 30 day tag, which was illegal. I was out ripping-it-up on a Saturday morning, when I was pulled-over by OPD. The officer discovered that I was riding on a second 30 day tag, and he flipped! He ordered me to take the bike home and park it, and if he saw me on it again, he would confiscate the bike. Monday arrived, I so went to the tag office to seek advice on the matter. After looking over the facts, like the cop who pulled me over, the state agent blows-a-fuse! While I was sitting there, she picks-up the phone and calls the dealer... She said, and I quote; "If you don't produce the title for this vehicle within 48 hours, I will personally be there to chain and padlock your doors, and you'll be placed under arrest! Do you understand?"

This was the bike...

An update today if anybody still following.

They couldn't figure out the creaking sound issue with the seat first, well actually the dealer in MA told me it's normal and happens with all Dodge vehicles but anyways, today I talked to the dealer and they say they ordered the entire bottom part.

The vehicle is just falling apart at 2700 miles. Can't imagine what it's going to be like in 50,000 lol

Yeah that's a load of 'horse -crap' Beerbug. With your situation starting your business, they need to cut you a check for your car. That would relieve a lot of stress.
If they would buy it back, that would really help you to get a truck for now,

Every now and again you see a 'Dodge-cares' person here on the forum, so they do watch. The dealer could help you instead of making it hard, you will have to post their name up here.
Good luck, and keep us updated. Life and work is hard enough, and you don't these guys trying to nickel & dime you and wasting your time.
I hope it does work out ,
best regards
parrott

So, FCA reached out to me today to let me know that my car has been approved for a buyback. They will contact me in the next 7 days to start the process.

Apparently @DodgeCares is watching over us, I am not sure how it would work out without their help.

But anyways, I am happy that they decided to do the right thing as this car was truly a nightmare from the day one.

Will you be getting a Camaro, Mustang, Porsche...?
