the airbag will still work. it has its own circiut, independent from the steering wheel switches and horn.

the compass is in the homelink module. it has to be enabled with programming.
the EVIC reconfigurble display function is also in the homelink. it too has to be enabled.

the tire pressure monitor system most likely needed to be reset after the dealer added the sales code.

you're on the right track. my horn didn't work after all the hardware was installed. but once you get it programmed, all will be fine. have your dealer follow the instructions above. good luck with the project...

hello every body
would you please answer my post 199.
in addition to that the tire pressure monitor system i have is a kind of turn the lamp on or off
i will take it to the dealer again withen next three days
thanks

Hi again
I want to thank all of you
And a special thank to TONY (s/s dodge) and jmr for there quick reply.
second I've went to the dealer and they have done it by using the instructions you have given to me
the steering controls works fine and I can search my EVIC
But there were some miner problems and I think you will solve them easily

1. the compass doesn't work. actually it appears like this (--) as it was before. and by the way, I've checked again for the harness and it is ok. I think it is lack of compass's sales code. what do you think? needs to be enabled...
2. the Evic doesn't display tire pressure as numbers. never will, you have the basic tire pressure monitor system. only the premium system reads actual pressures
3. it shows 0-100 time but it doesn't show 1/4 , 1/8 times and G force. that is on the SRT clusters only and not all years
4. the home link doesn't' work. not wired correctly
5. I want to remove the speed limit of 115 mile by the dealer not by Diablo sport predator. the dealer doesn't have the power to do this (safety reasons)
6. I want to make my mirrors automatically adjust themselves in R mode. ????
7. can I add the R/T gearbox instead of my current 4 speed gearbox. NO
8. I didn't understand the temperature. it gives me two info which are Temp AVG: 35 and Temp RAW:62. how to understand it and how to correct it? needs to be enabled with the compass
9. I found some sales code of some parts and I want to ask if I added these codes will make them function as well. sales codes have to be available for your car. the Jeep sales code for the rear camera isn't available to you.
10. i want to add the rear video system. Does it has a sales code to active it?
here is a list: again, not available on your car

1. JFJ: Temperature & Compass Gauge
GN2: Auto Dim Mirror W/Temp/Compass
GNN: Auto Dim Mirror W/Lamps/Compass/Temp
2. LAB: Tire Pressure Monitoring Warning Lp
XGM:Tire Pressure Monitoring Display
3. XGD:Universal Garage Door Opener
4. NH8:Delete Speed Control
NHZ:Adaptive Speed Control W/Stop &Go
XFS:Top Speed Limitation (74 Mph)
5. LEA:Auto Adjust In Reverse Drvr Mirror
6. RSX: rear video/ Tv system
XRR: removable rear seat video system
XRV: rear seat video system .

(These are examples and there are many for the the VES system. which one does it fit with my car because I am going to ask dealer to install them before I install iVES system..)

These are some of sales codes I've found for these parts. Will they help me if I add
them? And what is the correct sales code for these problems?

what do you think Tony?

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks a lot and your helps are appreciated.

And have a nice day
you have to see what sales codes are available to your car. the dealer can check and if they are on the list, you can add them. if not, you're sol

When you added the steering wheel controls did the stereo functions at least work? This was my question before I found all the posts with info needed. Thanks to everyone for the great info on this site!
you can add the steering wheel switches just for the radio buttons if you want. you don't need to add the EVIC display.

I just got the parts to add the steering wheel controls to my girlfriends PCP challenger. Used part of the Mopar bucks (also adding uconnect, microphone mirror, iPod harness and some other stuff)

I ordered the black switches, switch bezels, module and and the harness appears to be the correct 5 plug harness.

Only thing that caught my eye is the right side switches. Instead of a N for the compass it has a house/home icon instead. I hope it's just a appearence difference.

Does anybody know what size the steering wheel retaining bolt is? Is it a normal allen or the security type? I want to have everything ready before I start.

Thanks

You don't need to remove the steering wheel if the correct SCM is already installed. Check with you parts dept by giving them your vin and verify if the correct SCM is installed on your car.

When I ordered all the stuff I gave him the part numbers for everything except the module. There were no challengers on the lot with steering controls to get a vin from for comparision. I think there were 2 listed. At the last minute I gave him the part number from this thread and had him add it to my order.

I left the list and he went through and checked everything when I wasn't there. Whether or not he checked this part or took my word for it I don't know.

Ok. I had to remove the steering wheel to get to the old harness out. It's sandwiched between the wheel and the rear cover.

The steering wheel bolt is 10mm allen. I redid the blue loctite and torqued to 52ftlbs

I didn't change the module. Just changed the harness and added the switches.
Once I got it back together and the battery reconnected I checked the existing stuff. Cruise turns on and off, air bag light goes out. Horn doesn't work. Don't know if it ever did (car only has 800 miles on it)

Tomorrow I'll take the airbag back off and check the horn circuit plug and the switch with a meter.

I'll have the dealer add the sales code. If the switches don't work I'll swap out the module. I didn't have the small torx bit here at the house. Looks to be like a 10-T

Service manager said he'd hook me up with adding the code when I was ready.

Then I realized I need the dealer to install the remote start kit. It's a module, ignition switch and new fobs. They'll add the code for the switches then.

I'll post my results after the work is done.

One more question.

Has anybody tried to enable the factory passive alarm by just adding the sales code? I'm thinking theres no extra hardware. Car seems to behave exactly the same when you lock it. Wonder if it's just deactivated to make the conv group more attractive to buyers.

Tony is correct you'll need to have the sales code added to your vin then you'll be good to go.

Ok Tony, just read through this entire thread, now I see towards the end of the thread dealerships are not able to but the codes in for the EVIC ? I amd gathering all the parts as we speak. I have a 06 charger RT and im picking up a 06 SRT cluster this weekend, hopefully along with the SCM and harness, if not I can order those two parts from the dealer. Are you saying as of now I can not get the EVIC to work?

there is a good chance that you already have the correct SCM in your R/T. you will need the homelink module too. that is where the compass/ouside temp module is.

if you add all the hardware and the sales code for the steering wheel switches, most of the cluster will work. all of the normal gauges will work, but the compass will read "--" and the diagnostic menus won't come up in the display.

note: one person told me that they added all the hardware and only added the RDZ sales code and everything worked in the EVIC, except the compass. he said the diagnostic menus worked without adding the sales code for the EVIC display. who knows, you may or may not get those menus.

if you use a srt magnum cluster in a charger, you will have other issues to deal with. they are not the same.

Update:

2010 R/T without conv. package
Build date 2-10

I added just the harness and switches. The module is the one that was in the car from the factory. Don't know the part number because I didn't dig that deep into the column

Works!! Toggles through the basic mileage, trip, temp and eco (not sure about this) and controls all the radio functions. All set for the uconnect when it finally arrives. This car has no homelink, but the temp in the display appears to be correct. Said 92F when we picked up her car and said 84F at the house (starting to rain here)

Thanks for the help everybody!!
