From what I've read, it's been a mixed bag whether they approve or not. Good if your dealer is on board

I have this exact problem with my 2017 with the bubble line and severe ghost touches. How do I fix. New digitizer? Please help
I find it unreal that Dodge hasn't issued a recall yet on these delamination issues.
They will never issue a recall because it does not risk our safety

I Have the exact same issue with my 2018 Dodge Challenger, the screen delamination and Ghost touches, I have seen on ebay many touch digitizers for less than $100 bucks and the whole LCD screen for over $500. Has anybody fixed the issue and help me out to know which one of the two do I need to fix my issue??? Thanks 🙏

I disagree on not risking safety. What's the first reaction when something happens? You take your eyes off the road and concentrate on the head unit. It could also be quite a jolt/scare depending on what it does. I think it should be considered a hazard

Ford had a recall on the Fusion because of the potential for headliner wrinkles. Safety and a recall are not always tied together.

This screen delamination issue is a serious manufacture defect. It is not acceptable for Dodge to continue selling products that may cause serious, potentially fatal, physical harm. When the screen goes out of control and changes settings and applications, it becomes a very serious road hazard as well as health hazard.
I cannot keep the AC on in Texas heat, because it keeps switching to heat and turning the temperature all the way up then it will turn the seat warmers on and off repeatedly. I have a four-year-old, and it is completely unsafe for her to ride in a car with the heater on in 100° weather. My only option is to turn it off, and then she suffers in the Texas heat. If I leave it on, it is an incredibly unsafe distraction trying to continually correct all of the changes it is making while driving.
It’s impossible.
It’s unsafe.
It’s unacceptable.

I was less than a month outside of warranty when my screen delaminated. I just contacted Dodge cares, and I was told there is nothing they will do to help financially or otherwise.

I am a certified paralegal, and I know a CLASS ACTION when I see one. I will be contacting an attorney within the week to discuss a lawsuit. If anyone is interested in joining or helping to hold them accountable, feel free to message me with details about your experiences.

I can deal with all manner of things, but when it comes to endangering child’s health or the lives of others, it crosses the line from inconvenience to known negligence.

P.S. I called @DodgeCares, and I assure you, they don’t.
Have you moved forward with the class action suit? I just experienced the craziness of this malfunction today and it was beyond annoying... it was down right DANGEROUS! The distraction was horrible and I just shut it all off until I could get home. Just curious what Dodge has to say about this if anything... I try to DM them from this forum but can't find how to do that. And I'm with you: this is unacceptable.

Hi @DodgeCares
I have a 2018 Dodge Charger with a delaminated screen. I have talked to the local Dodge dealership and Uconnect, but am having difficulty getting the problem resolved. Please DM when possible.
Thanks!
@DodgeCares , this issue is only getting worse with time. We can't even use any of the screen controls half the time. Please DM me so I can start gathering the information needed to resolve this matter. I would rather not pay anything towards the fix until I know whether we have a chance at reimbursement.

I bout this 2018 Ram big born last year with 28,000 miles certified preowned. I have 52,000 miles now 8 months later and my screen is going crazy and I noticed bubbling running across the top of the screen. Said it was $1600 fix not including labor. Why is this not a recall? My dealership would not honor any warranty because bumper to bumper was over at 36,000 miles. Love the truck but this is ridiculous. Please help if possible!

If it is just the screen/display, and not the 'whole' radio, somebody sells that at normal prices.
You may have to move the mounting frame from one to the other, but it is just a display.
(Take the stickers off the original and stick ' on the radio JIC for the next guy.)

I am not convinced the delamination is from external heat, but if you wanted to get the clear tint, yes you can do the entire windshield, it's optically clear .....

A Guy"
I'm convinced that it's NOT heat related at all.

A friend of mine had his screen delaminate in May 2021 on his 2018 Challenger SRT 392 that he bought in April 20218. So he was 3 weeks outside of his 36 month warranty. His car is a garage queen. It has less than 5,500 miles on it, has tinted windows, and a rear window louver over the tinted rear window. AND ... his car lives in a climate controlled - A/C & Heat - garage. There's no way his car was ever subjected to enough heat to cause a problem.

BTW ... after ZERO help from the dealer that wanted $1,200 to replace the radio, he got Dodge Cares involved and the radio finally got replaced in July 2021. The dealership even tried playing games with the Dodge Cares people by insisting that Dodge Cares send them a radio as they refused to order one -- after saying they'd order one and setting an appointment for its installation. And this is was at the same dealership where my buddy had bought two other Dodges since he'd bought the Challenger.

So I had this as well, and it got bad (maps were in Canada one second, Antarctica the next), so I was about to spend the $600 on the replacement when I found the video below. I fixed it for less than $10. If there's a class action, I'm in, since I don't have what I paid for, but the fix works, looks good, and is functional

Check out my post below. I had just convinced my wife that I really did need to spend $600 on a new screen/digitizer when I found the YouTube video I liked below. I fixed the issue for $10. Here's the breakdown, though:

$1200 looks like the going price for a dealership to install a new screen. You don't need a new head unit -- that's BS if anyone tries to sell you on that, go to a different dealership.

$600 buys a new screen and digitizer on Ebay, but you have to take the dash apart, take the head unit out, and take it apart to install the new screen. You'll get some of the sticky goo on you, but not a big deal. Taking the dash apart isn't a huge deal, but there's a potential to bend the metal and/or break retaining clips (I did both, but fixed the clips with some super glue, now it looks like new).

$10 gets you double-sided tape and rubbing alcohol. This step involves removing the screen as above, using a hair dryer and fishing line to separate the digitizer from the screen, and then several hours removing the goo from both (carefully, so you don't damage either -- I used a lot of alcohol, paper towels, microfiber towels, and an old credit card to get 95% of it off). Then line the rim of the digitizer with double-sided tape, attach to the screen, and re-install, per the video I posted below. It took me about four hours total, but it looks fine (like normal), the only difference being there's an air gap between the two instead of that sticky goo (like a combination of honey and rubber cement). So far, it looks and functions like new (I suppose when direct sunlight hits it, you can see the very faint pattern of the digitizer ... I'm not sure I could see that before in similar conditions).

I love the latter way, despite it sucking part of a Sunday, especially since you get the win over shoddy materials and shoddy customer support.

I was driving and the uconnect started changing my sport mode settings while on the highway. The ghost touches are now happening multiple times a second. Please @DodgeCares help me get this resolved so I don't have to sell my car.

At first it would just ghost press during the winter but i noticed as the bubble behind the digitizer got bigger it started ghost touching almost the whole screen. The beeps where annoying at first but when it started to try to call SOS and texting people i got upset. Finally when i was driving on the highway and my sport mode settings started to change without my consent I got rather upset. I hope @DodgeCares does something about this. I love the car but the delamination of the screen plus ghost touches have now made it dangerous to drive.

So I grabbed a used 2017 rt. I thought they left the plastic on the screen honestly.. I got home a day or 2 later & started scraping & it’s not the plastic smh. Any one else have this issue? It still works just don’t know if I should replace or just wait it out..

The delaminationnnnnn ughh so I thought it was the clear plastic and started picking it off with a small knife. Noppeee not the plastic. It’s the screen. Now it’s a bit cracked. Should I replace? If so who went with aftermarket? I’m 2nd owner and they won’t fix under warranty.

Yup, just spend $30 on Amazon for the digitizer and hit Youtube.

Not as difficult as it seems. Hardest part is cleaning the goo off.

I tried calling Dodge and they told me about a recall, but guess what?
My vin told them I didn't qualify, even though I obviously had de-lamination.

Dodgecares? What a joke :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Hey guys,

I have my first issue with the challenger the top of my screen is getting a bubble. Which from what I have read is a known issue for 2018 models. I also read that dodge has been willing to replace the bubbling units. So I called dodge cares. They said bring the car in to a dealer and get it diagnosed and call back. I said sure. I brought it in so their tech could write a piece of paper saying the screen is bubbling. I made my call back to the dodge cares line and was told that dodge is not fixing this issue and they have no plans to begin fixing this issue and to have a good day. My car is not even 2 months out of warrantee and has less than 30k miles on it. The abruptness of the person really bothered me and the lack of consideration really bothered me. I had puraches a platinum aftermarket warrentee which covers the radio with a 100 dollar deductible so getting it fixed is not big deal but the lack of concern is giving me pause about buying another mopar. Has anyone else run int this type of behavior with them?

I've heard some people get extended coverage for the screen delaminations. I've also heard some people with stories like yours.

At the end of the day, once the warranty ends, I expect to be SOL. I can count on 2 fingers where a dealer or manufacturer willingly exceeded their warranty provisions to help me out. It's nice when it happens, but definitely not expected.

The screen delamination issue is fairly well documented and common. The problem with it is that they generally fail sometime after the B2B warranty expires. While it would be nice if they lasted longer, the sad fact is that many of them start to fail 4-5 years down the line (and most often with cars that are stored outside).
