How do I disable the data collecting/transmitting system?

I vehemently despise the fact that some modern cars collect and send our data for them selves and third parties. Connected cars are so dystopian to me.

This site says my Challenger is basically a smartphone on wheels, and I'd like to change that.

I've heard that there is a sim card somewhere in the car. If I removed that, would that prevent them from transmitting my data? If so, are there any videos/guides on how to do this?
Would I need to do anything else in addition to removing the sim to ensure privacy?
Would removing the sim card adversely affect any other functionality?

If concerned, don't sign up for SiriusXM, don't sign up for anything on the car having anything to do with Uconnect.

Turn your cell phone off, it tracks you too. Even if not using any map app, connections and transitions from one tower to another are logged by your carrier. This gives a sense of speed over some miles. In the event of a significant "incident," this data is retrievable as discovery (search warrants).

Finally, there are "black box" functions in the car. I do not know details for the Dodge platform, but most cars today do have some record of recent operation.

I don't have XM or any Uconnect subscriptions. Not a privacy matter, I'm just cheap. I do use my phone for maps, music, and sometimes a few other things. Really not worried about snooping and not being so stupid on the road that I am likely to be the subject of "discovery."

On edit: Many cars take a "snapshot" of preceding seconds if airbags deploy.

Have you found a solution? I also hate the idea of this thing. I was shocked when I started getting a monthly email telling me the exact mileage on my car and other information. I was thinking if I could just disconnect the shark antenna cable but do not know how to access either end of this cable. If you find a solution please let me know. I let the Sirus radio and uconnect trial subscription expire but I still get the monthly messages to my email.

From the link:

"... call 800-777-3600 and request to cancel for privacy reasons.

If you cancel for privacy reasons, wireless transmission network service will be deactivated for your Vehicle once your request has been processed, which means that: (i) remote transmission and collection of Covered Data from your Vehicle will be stopped; (ii) most Connected Services will not be available to you, including emergency and roadside services and Wi-Fi-enabled services; and (iii) your Vehicle will no longer receive updates to your in-vehicle manual or other over-the-air updates. Certain in-vehicle safety, diagnostic and other systems may continue to generate and store performance, safety and diagnostic information, which may be accessed by independent dealers and others who service your Vehicle and shared with FCA and others for performance, safety, warranty and related purposes."

So info can still be pulled from the vehicle when serviced, and I am sure there is some sort of "snapshot" if the airbags deploy. Law enforcement can access snapshots with a warrant. With a warrant, LE can probably get telemetry turned back on; but hey, the same is true for your cell phone.

Never signed up for for anything on my '16 when I took delivery.

When 3G shut down, I'm pretty sure that my car can't transmit anything either.

That black box event recorder doesn't make me reach for the tinfoil hat, but insurance companies wanting me to plug their device into my port for a rate reduction gets my usual response.
