Is it just me or more and more people on here buying Challys and not Challengers. Geez I know its trivial but its driving me nuts. Calling this car a Chally would be like calling a 70 Hemi Cuda a Cudie or a Viper a Vipee. Please just stop it!!!!!!!!!!!!:headbang:There now I feel better.

Viper and Cuda don't need a nickname, they are already only two syllables. Challenger has three, thus the two syllable "Chally" I hated it at first too, but when saving my numerous Chally images, typing "Challenger" takes too long. I never utter the word in mixed company, though. It still sounds stupid out loud.

Stupid is not the word I was thinking of, but they would ban me if I said what I really think. You are right thought I knew why most people used it. Just having a bad day, too many kids with rice burners coming up to me and asking if that was a new Chally. Makes me what to thump um.

Had a 70 Barracuda all of a sudden it was only a CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA :)

Cuda never sounded bad, but Chally that just doesn't work.

There was never a shortened name for the Challenger. However Cuda is a shortened name for Barracuda, Witch just happened to catch on. Long live the CHALLENGER.
I completely agree. The name is Challenger and the shortened from, which I won't name but you can inference, is painful to read. It is even worse when it is spoken by some kid trying to impress me. Challenger forever!

I’ve never heard that term used for a GTX. Not saying it’s not used, but if I had a GTX Road Runner I would be more proud of GTX then anything. The GTX was a incredible car. Not matched by most.

To me it's like "X"ing out Christ in Christmas. Lazy and disrespectful...
I couldn't drive my Chally on x-mas day because it was snowing.

So I take it that we won't use Vette, Stang or even Hemi anymore as well!

I hope some sells a 6.1 Hemispherical emblem!

I've said this before...some of yall need to get the car outta the garage and go for a drive!

This is no different than when the Barracuda got the nickname 'cuda. It caught on so well, Plymouth officially changed the car's name to Cuda.

Chally doesn't have the same ring, but it serves the same purpose.

I never liked that term at all is sounds weak. I always call it a CHALLENGER

I'm with Buckwheat! He hit the nail right on the head: Chally just sounds WEAK! ...............................It's a frikken CHALLENGER!

Could you imagine Mike Tyson standing in the ring, and the announcer announces: And his "CHALLY", weighing in at 205 pounds, :stickpoke: with the "PINK" shorts..................................?

Look, I'm no homophobe. But come on now?..............................CHALLY?
:disappointed: Thats sooooo............................ gay!

I'm not against 'slang' and I"m not going to tell anyone else what to say, but it bugs me every time I type Chally... so I'll stop and stick with what I like Challenger. Could just be my age. I prefer to say Challenger as well. Even though I'm older I seem to have plenty of breath left to get it out without effort. Possibly I'll need to shorten it up in a few years, we'll see...

The Road Runner didnt have a nickname did it? Thats 3 syllables.....
The Road Runner had the ultra-cool Beep Beep horn going for it. :eek:rangehat:

(only two disasters have occurred using the name challenger, one in 1998 the other in the 70's when they stopped production of them)....
You forgot 1978, when they introduced the 4 cyl. Challenger. I sooo happy they didn't go that route for the retro style. :SM127:

I like the call my car "Christine" after the red car(Plymouth Fury) in the Stephen King Book/Movie , and Challenger is my next choice. I have to admit to never writing or calling my car a Chally, :stickpoke:but my Cammy and Musty I used to own probably nullifies my nicknaming of cars. I am just kidding, I like calling it a dodge or an R/T or just a Challenger. So I sorta agree. But I do not care what someone else does . please do not stick a bumper sticker on it though- that is my pet peeve ! lol

Thinking about this... I never say Chally, I say Challenger - as in 2009 Challenger SRT8, BABY!!!!! :bigthumb: But, I find myself wanting to shorten it when posting. :)

:cat:
I am exactly the same as you Toopsma, I have never and will never say it out loud, its just ridiculous sounding. But when I'm typing, I've used Chally before for the sake of expediency. Nothin wrong with that. (Except maybe for the fact that it seems to be giving others on "ChallyTalk.com" a case of the red a$$!) :naughty::icon_aetsch:
