Uconnect 8.4 upgrade requirements

Hi all - I’m looking to upgrade my 7” uconnect to the 8.4.

I don’t have nav (and don’t need it), and don’t care about XM or performance pages… I just want the bigger screen for carplay and for it to work right.

Other than a panasonic uconnect 8.4, an unlock code, and the right Farka connector to swap from my non-nav cable to the “curry” Farka connector, is there anything else I need?

Does the uconnect fuse need to be upgraded in the fuse box?

Did the same swap a year ago going from the 7 inch to the 8.4 on my 19 RT. Got the UAS with no nav or XM.

Other than the radio itself and the Farka adapter I just needed to get the radio code itself like you mentioned. The one I got from the vendor did not work. I ended up spending four bucks on ebay and received the correct code in 10 mins.

But that was really it. If you really want the swap to go smoothly I would order some replacement orange clips for the back of the dash bezel just in case; I had a couple pop off when I did the install.

Just to round this out: install successful. It was about as straightforward as you could get: a non-nav 2022 Uconnect 7 to a non-nav 2022 Uconnect 8.4.

Didn’t need anything except the new unit and the security code.

I didn’t get full functionality until after letting it sit overnight (~ 16 hours).

Even after 3 hours, I only had the rear speakers working, and heat/AC temp controls were all screwy. But it’s 100% now. Weird process.

Final update:

STP and Performance pages are working.

Summary: went from a plain Uconnect 7 with sport button console to Uconnect 8.4 with sport button & STP button console.

Manual 22 R/T.

Need a Tazer to enable the STP button on the new console, as well as performance pages, line lock, and everything else. You can also keep a functioning sport button.

My donor 8.4 was from a 2022, and my donor STP HVAC console was from a 2021.

Just need to be patient with the Tazer programming process.
