Hello, guys! I need help. A couple of weeks ago I bought myself a car that I wanted for a long time and problems immediately began ... Car - 2023 Challenger SXT, brand new. Mileage is now only 600 miles. It all started with a random thud under the driver's seat. When I start the car, sometimes this thud is present and sometimes it isn't. Very unpleasant thing. I thought it would go away, but it doesn't. Also, last week the car randomly shut off while driving. To be more precise - during the start of the driving. I start driving from a traffic light, the car wants to change gear from first to second, as if choking and turning off. After that, I took it to the dealer, but as you can imagine, they don't know what's wrong, because there is not a single error code and the car does not stall all the time. They tested it and the car didn’t die under them. After that, I drove 300 miles, everything was fine, but the thud at startup did not go away. And today the problem with the stalled engine recurred. What are your thoughts on this? To at least give a tip to another dealer to know where to look. Could it be the transmission? Thank you in advance.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I supervise a fleet shop which includes v6 Dodge chargers. We have been going round and round with this for the last 2 years and no solution has been found yet. I can say that doing a factory reset on all the modules tends to help it for a short time. As of right now there are no updated flashes from Dodge and no possible bulletin fixes. To those having the bump when you put it in gear check the center bearing on the driveshaft. Ours are all AWD but we have had 10 or 12 with the bushing already worn out (one with around 12k miles on it) Love to hear if anyone does find a solution to the V6 stalling issue as I've got alot of guys riding around out there that just don't feel safe anymore.

Hope all you guys are writing the the NHTSA.

There may not be any codes thrown, but that doesn't mean there isn't data out there showing time and date stamps of cars starting, shutting off, starting. Certainly if there is a 30 second or less time between a shut off and a start, that is a record of a shutting off incident.

I am no expert in auto data analysis, but there should be a data stream of things like voltage to the fuel pump to see if that just goes to zero.

I don't have this issue, but I certainly feel for you guys.

I believe the security module is always logging the last 30 secs of data (overwriting it) that's why insurance companies want it in accident and there's no clear indicator of whose at fault. And it must be saving other data in the PCM because you do have Adaptives that can be reset by pulling Fuse 23 for about 30 secs. Maybe just doing this will solve the issue.
You can also log your own data using HP Tuners VCM Suite (free software) with a MPVI3 or equivalent. You only need credits and your PCM unlocked if you wish to write to the PCM. The MPVI3 isn't cheap though, it's like $399. I bought my V6 Challenger brand new in 2019 and have never had this issue, so it must be something with the last few years or maybe just the Last Call (QA went to crap making the last ones).
