Anyone have a baby seat in your Challenger?

Hey guys/gals, just wondering if anyone currently has a car seat in your car, or has had one in there at some point. I know the car comes with anchors for one, but I'm wondering how well a car seat in the Challenger works.

Trying to convince my pregnant wife that it is not as big of a pain in the a$$ as she thinks that it will be, especially since the back seat room in the Chally is comparable to some of the smaller sedans... better in some cases.

I think that all kids deserve to ride around with at least 370 hp under them, plus that humming Hemi should put them right to sleep!

Thanks.

Ryan

Re: baby seat

:twak: As soon as I mentioned it, that's what happened. Luckily she even entertained your conversation....

I've had it back there once or twice ( :disappointed: ) and it fits like a glove. Baby did go right to sleep as soon as he got back there, all that black back there, night night time. :)

I have 3 boys, and two of them (twins) are in baby seats. They fit great, but a four-door is much easier. Always load and unload from the passenger side, and make sure to pull the passenger side seat belt out of the guide. This way you can get in and out of the back easily without having to crouch under the belt.

The first time I gave them a ride they cried, but now they just smile and go to sleep. I honestly have found the Challenger to have plenty of room inside, and the huge trunk is great too.

In the leather seats? Never have and never will! Right after I bought the car my 4 year old granddaughter asked when she could go for a ride and I told her when she didn't need a car seat anymore. She asked why and I told her because car seats can't go in that car. She said, "Oh."

I had a two year old in Roxie. I was able to push the passenger seat all the way up and actually crouch down in the back to make sure the seat was properly fitted. The little girl, Piper, sure did have fun riding in Ms. Abby's car! :)

Please, please, please guys.... pull on the carseat while child isn't in it to make sure there isn't ANY give! These seats should fit snug as a bug when belted in properly. If you're having problems, put a knee in the carseat to help get that belt as tight as possible.

I lay down towels before I put the car seat in my ride......and my leather seats are still perfect :)
When our daughter used carseats, we always put a towel down before putting the carseat in the vehicle. Definitely saved the seats!

No problem for us first with a car seat and now a booster seat back there all the time. Daughter only will ride to preschool back and forth in the Challenger - all the other children, especially the little boys are envious!:eek:rangehat: Poster above is dead on, only through the right side and keep the seat belt off the guide. Four door cars are easier in and out, but a minor enough problem to still go with the Challenger.

4 doors are easier, which is why we normally take either the SRT8 Jeep or the Dually Mega Cab, however mine works fine if need be.
Depending on the size of the car seat the front passenger may not be able to go all the way back but it's not bad at all.
If you're having a hard time maybe a Charger SRT8 would be a good compromise?

Thanks for the replies all. I'm not worried about it at all, the concerns are coming from the better half. I started the tread to confirm my thoughts, and to show her that it's not as big of a deal as she thinks! We have a Range Rover as well, so obviously we'll take that with the baby whenever possible, but daycare is at my job, so she's just worried that it will be too much of a pain.

Already discussed the Charger option with her, and after showing her both side by side, she said that the Challenger was a no-brainer.

I think I can deal with the "inconvenience" of only two doors until the baby reaches booster seat size. Small price to pay for a Classic.

HA! What? Whoa, that's awesome! My daughter would frikkin' flip for that seat!

In regards to the OP, though, it sounds like the only concerns here are that it's a big pain in the ass to get a kid in and out of a seat. Well, of course it's not as convenient as it is with a minivan, but it's something that a Challenger owner will gladly endure so that he may be a Challenger owner. I do it all the time, although my daughter is almost 5, so she can climb in herself now. Get yourself one of those cloth things that go under the car seat if you're worried about damage (that dude who refuses to take his granddaughter for a ride? Dude, that's harsh). Also, make sure you tell your wife about the side curtain air bags and antilock brakes. Plus, they didn't put those LATCH anchors in there for the look. And maybe point out that becoming a parent is stressful enough, you need something to ease that tension, and a new Challenger is just what the doctor ordered!

Well, since only my granddaughters are little I don't have to worry about them riding in the car until they're older and more responsible. It may be harsh, but it's a lot of money and we have other vehicles they can ride in. I plan to own this car until I die so it's going to be very wel taken care of.

ok I currently have a baby seat in the back of my Stonewhite r/t, more then enough room obviously. but u will have to actualy step into the back of the vehicle with the kid in your hands to set him/her into the seat, unless u have extremely long arms(because the back of the car is so roomy/big, so thats a slight pain in the ass. but besides that ,no other problems.Pick up one of those rubber protection mats for the underneath to protect the leather. Oh and i will never admit to my wife that this is an inconvienence what so ever! p.s whats a little sacrafice for driving the coolest ride on the road!?.

I've had my 1 year old, (since 6 months old) cute pink seat back there (on the days I drive it to work to drop her off at daycare) and it works great. You can't do the middle in the Maro or Mustang unfortunately, but you can in our cars. I just recommend putting the metal clip straps on and tighten them down in additions since there is that raise in the middle, otherwise when you corner there's a chance it could tip with just the seat belt on. I learned this from personal experience when I heard my 5 year old go "whoah" around a corner with it a bit tipped. :) Once you strap them down it works great. Hope this helps. :bigthumb:

I passed out when I read the topic of this thread..........you ever See what a car seat can do to leather...........My grand kids cant ride in it til the reach their civilized state of being!

No Cheerios in this car. All my kids are grown and we take the Grandkids in Gramma D's Jeep Grand Cherokee. She has two seats in there for both of them. When Adam can sit up front with Grampaw then we will go for a RIDE. Emma will be a few more years. And my son has already claimed dibs on the Challenger as my daughter was already given my Ram.

But If I just had to put a car seat in the Challenger (Eyore hanging head) I would make sure it is in there snug so we don't get a "whoah" moment.

I sold a friend a Volvo 740 Turbo my ex got in the D and he said he found Cheerios all over the car when ha had to do some work on it and pulled the console. I said "Hey, I wasn't there anymore".

I've done it but access to the rear seat is awful - even from the passenger side. I do use this booster seat for my 5 year old. Looks kinda cool (for a booster seat) and he gets in and out by himself and can usually buckle the belt to.

Now that's something I won't do in the car. I'll wait till we get home. :bigthumb:As for the kids, I have the seat protectors and only ride with my daughter back there once a week, so the leather is fine, but if it was more than that a week, I could see it hurting the leather.

You can tell your wife that the Challenger is *our* family car! I push the passenger side seat all the way up and step into the back seat floor board area. Takes me all of 30 seconds to install the seat and even less to take it back out - and yes, I torque it down really tight. I have leather, so I always put a towel down before mounting the seat. Luckily, my better half loves the Challenger so much she wants one of her own. She actually encouraged me to buy the Challenger after seeing how much rear and trunk space it had - of course it didn't hurt that she was drooling over the car's aggressive look.
