So I took off the console cover again and checked for any thing that might be rubbing and really didn't find anything. I added the small allen set screw in the handle assembly as I had thought it redundant but decided to put it in anyway. I also took a sock and after cutting the toe part off put it around the base of the shifter right below the leather cover in the hope of reducing any noise. Seems to have worked as it is now almost as quiet as stock. I can understand a little more noise but it does seem to be breaking in quite nicely. Absolutely love the action on it.

the 6060 is a common rail shifted trans ( the shaft you hooked the Barton to) all the springs do is hold it centered. no way it causes wear to shift forks or synchros.
Thank you for the explanation. The centering spring is still applying side force to the rail while in gear. I was thinking this side loading would cause some wear.

Aside from the fix I posted, I still have a little of the noise when the trans is fully warmed up. Only 2nd and 4th.
Are you still getting noise thru the Barton? Do you remember how you installed the isolator at the rear of the shifter? The Barton video said screw heads forward but I believe the video you watched had it backwards. I just installed my Barton today so this is fresh in my mind.

When I did our install in 2021 I saw both ways by watching probably the same videos ya'll are watching. I reached out directly to Barton and someone responded within an hour. I'll post directly what he told me. The Barton shifter is head and shoulders above the stock one and their customer service is top-notch as well. I added shifter with right at 500 miles and couldn't believe the sloppiness that was removed. And no noise whatsoever.

Hi Mike,
That is called the rear bracket. The bracket can go either way, as long as there is no binding when the tab at the top of that bracket goes into the rectangle window in the pan. On some cars that window is off a little (Driver to passenger) so you have to rotate that bracket 180 degrees so it won't bind. When I do installs, I always start with the bolts facing the rear of the car.

Thanks and have a Blessed Day

I have had the Barton in for a while now and it still doesn't make any more noise than the stock unit since I applied the fixes mentioned in an earlier post. I love it!

anyone just live with the noise ? mine started last month, I opened everything up and made sure everything was tight - it was and still makes some noise.... I can only hear it with the windows up and radio off !!! the car is put away for winter now, so not sure what to do in the spring. keep trying to find the noise or ignore it and drive it. I was just worried that noise was something wrong, but if it's just a common noise I think I can live with it maybe? sucks for a car with less then 2K miles to make noise, but once I put an exhaust on her I won't hear anything away ... lol

It may not be an issue of something being loose. It's more likely that the angle/position of the shift stick is just barely touching something that it shouldn't be touching.

Try repositioning the stick left or right or front or back.

I will try that in the spring, I just put here away for winter storage
