Has anyone installed any of the Core shifter handles? I like the aluminum pistol grip, but was hoping to get some feedback first.

I bought the aluminum one pictured in the earlier link. It is very nice feel but it does have a small bit of vibration noise at certain rpm's. I thought it was isolated below the shifter handle and was not supposed to make any noise.
It's not bad, but is annoying a little. The thing is that the handle is solid aluminum and the shaft is solid steel jam nutted together, so the noise must be coming from below. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet. It will be a winter project. Anyone else experience this with any other aftermarket shifters?

I saw someone post that they added a spacer to the screws attaching the "stick" to the shifter. I may try a lock washer to see if that works.

"Lowisuzu - yes it fits on the stock 6 speed. One thing I just fixed today on it was I noticed a rattle as I was going through the gears at first I thought it was the shift ball making the noise but turns out it was the factory bolts that have the washers built on to it the washers were not making contact with the shifter when fully tighten, so I put a spacer between it and problem solved. Its a real simple mod changing the shifter maybe a 30 minute job."

I noticed the same noise after installing my "Core" shifter with the Hurst Ball. Put a pair of washers in to snug it up. Great value to get rid of that clunky pistol grip shifter. My 2-3 shift is MUCH better now.

Has anyone tried to use this adapter with actual pistol grip shifter handle whether it be from an old e body or the new mopar hurst kit?

I can pick up an old style pistol grip shifter handle for around $140 new on ebay and then if I could put this adapter on the bottom id only be in it for around $240 and I get two stick options that way.

But I would really like to see how the old style pistol grip handle looked. I owned an E body cuda with a pistol grip 4 spd and there is just nothing like the feel you get when gripping it.

My guess is the Hurst version made for the Hurst competition shifter would bolt on but the drawback would be is it would sit 2" or 3" higher since it's bolting up higher on the adapter than it would on the actual shifter. I'd love to see someone try it to know for sure since from a retro perspective it would be tempting.

In my case I've used the T handle in my manuals in the past so it's what I'm used feel wise and to me it brings some old school cosmetics as well.

so I received mine today but had some questions how does the lock nut work im not familiar with this also did you guys all use any Loctite to hold the ball or shifter in place. have any of them came loose since install?

I've not put the ball on but I've typically not had to lock tight the jam nut with other shift knobs. The jam nut wedges the two threaded nuts together and the tension between them has the effect of locking the nut and the shifter knob in place. I did opt to thread lock the oem shifter bolts since others had reported a rattle I didn't want them to loosen up.

heres,,, mine,,, i dont see this stick and ball combo on their website anymore. I didnt use a spacer,,, but i might add one later to keep the shifter more to the right, if possiable. I like mine,,, it didnt loosen off yet after 1 yr, no threadlock. I bought the hurst badge for my car but all the paint wore off in a month on it,,, they wont replace it,, they kept giving me the run around.

Did you painted the shifter black? Looks really good, like the red ball.

No it does not screw off although you can remove it if you destroy the handle grip part...it's a vulcanized rubber molded grip (cast formed around) onto a cold rolled stamped steel shaft, that's why it's so dam quite and adds to the mushy stock feel... You can use the shaft if you're willing to 1. Remove the plastic part (snap clicked on), and leather wrap (glued) ...2. Use a propane torch to melt/burn off the rubber...3. Run a thread die down the shaft for your pitch choice of threads...I know, I've done it, it's not fun and not really worth doing...choose one you like and just buy it, overall it's cheaper and safer...why did they use cast rubber you ask? the stock shifter handle was designed to absorb noise/vibration and to maintain comfortable handle temps...hope this helps :bouncy:
