Uh wut? I don't own one so humor me. Why can't you get into the back seat from the driver's side? Doesn't it fold forward?

 

No, the driver seat doesn't fold forward. It's mostly for me but when I need to haul others, it would be nice to have the flexibility...

I agree for some people this is an issue. For me it isn't. Even if they could get in behind my seat, unless it kept my exact seat position i'd tell them to get in on the other side.

It is also like when i was asked why i'd want a 2 door car when I could get a 4 door and make it more comfortable in the back for other people... I replied, "I'm not buying my car for other people, so screw them if they're gonna sit in the back."

Again tho, thats just my side of the "issue".

 

Just get a 2 seat car. Problem solved.

 

OK, thought I would see what people have noticed that they cut corners on when they did the Challenger. I'll start with a couple:

1) With a $1260 "Electronic Convenience Group" they put lights by the door handles & around the drink holders NO STINKING GLOVE BOX LIGHT! Can you say DUH?

2) No access to the back seat from the driver's side. This is totally stupid. When I have my Mom with me it is a real pain for her to get in and out so people can use the back seat. This has got to be one of the dumbest things they've done.

Yeap, that was known with 08/09 SRT's didn't have a glove box light but SE's and some R/T's did, strange,

You can get access to the back from the drivers side but you have to electrically adjust the seat forward, takes forever so yeah, you just have to tell them to get in from the other side. :smoker:

 

It's a power seat with power seat back. That's the issue in a nutshell. The other seat is not. They saved a few bucks by not adding this feature to the drivers seat. They figure that you're driving and if you want somein the back you will pick them up starboard side. I can see where it would be a hassle with childseats but my kids are now 28 and 21. They have their own vehicles to get into.

 

Wah? Then how do you adjust the seat itself? I can't think of a single car that I haven't had to adjust the seatback to be at the most comfortable angle.

EDIT: Oh, so it's a powered seatback. Gotcha.

 

Well with everything else the car gives it's a few minor things to give up I doubt I would ever need the light in the glovebox as I may open mine once a year if I am lucky as for the seat I don't plan on having anyone sit behind me so I am good here lol.

 

I did two nights ago when I got pulled over to check the validity of my In Transits and make sure I had insurance! It SUCKED! Yeah, I could use a flashlight ~ but my point was for over $1200 they should have included it!

Glove box light, and underhood light both would have been nice, but I dont think that was really anything to complain about. Aside from that, I bet the driver seat not folding back saved them and us a good chunk of change because they either would have done both like the passenger seat, with people complaining about no power seats, or would have had to put a ton of engineering work into making a power seat that folds. Yeah, other companies have it, but also use it in other models. It would have cost us at least a bit more for that, and I myself wouldn't be willing to pay another grand so that the driver seat folded. These are drivers cars, not passenger cars, so whatever, I'm not complaining.

The Sebring Convertible already has the mechanism so it wouldn't have been hard to do. I would much rather have a handle to adjust the tilt of the seat back and have it lean forward. I don't really care for the power back anyway. Like I said, it's not that we CAN'T use the passenger side, just a pain when my Mom has to get in and out...PLUS, if there is a wreck on the passenger side and the door won't open, if the person in the back is normal sized, it's a tight fit to squeeze out between the seats over the console. Just lazy on their part.

These cars are already the highest priced of the 3 in it's class ~ for that kind of money, and charging all the extra that they do for things like the "Electronics Group" I'm amazed at where they've cut the corners.

As for the back seat, well I have a 3 year old girl who gets in the back every day, and she has no problems. Next summer her 2 month old brother will also be getting in the back. The biggest problem will be for the boy to scream HEMI! when I punch it, since his speech @ 2 months won't be too great.

The back seat access for my kids is awsome to them. After spending their entire lives having to climb up onto a 37" tall rear tire, swinging the soft side window up from the soft top, then ducking under the metal bar under the soft top and over the quarter panel, then they can sit down and buckle up. They think that the entry into this car is spectacular, open door, swing seat forward, climb in. Myself I really don't care. If they want to ride they will figure out a way. The only time I might end up in riding in the back seat is if I had too much to drink and at that point just pour me into the trunk and take me home no arguments from me! I probably won't even remember the ride.

Well, the one thing i have found lacking is the lack of the front driver's seat having a position memory. Resetting after the wife drives is an inconvienence. The seat is also very slow.

I buy cars as i do all my two seaters.. no one rides in the back of my cars, so its just another two seater.

My back seat carries my Black Challenger Hemi Hood Ball cap. And an occasional bag of groceries.

No Babies here. Me an my GF.... 2 Door... 2 seats all the way. Want a 4 door???? Buy a Charger....

I am happy with the setup. I'm not moving my seat forward for no one....

 

The only time I open my glove box is to get out my registration and proof of insurance for the officer that just stopped me for another ticket. Now I can tell him theres no light in there so I cant find it. Im sure he'll let me go.

I have 3 kids, two of which are in car seats. When we go for a ride in the Chally, they just file in through the passenger side. It really only adds about 12 seconds to the car entry while they wait for the kid in front of them to enter the car.

It really doesn't present any real problem.

I like having a car without a lot of bells and whistles. Half the time, the "conveniences" found in other cars end up breaking & are left unfixed for months/years and even sometimes for the life of the car.

If the glove box light really bothers you... It's a good idea to have a flashlight in your car anyways, so buy a Mag-Lite & have a light source for everywhere in the car. ...Easy Peasy.

Exactly what I thought when I ordered my 27F car. It only has one bell and one whistle; and cloth seats which I really like.

My glove box has a flashlight in it if I ever need to find something in there (haven't yet in 11 months).

 

I had a 300C and for the same price it had more features. It can't cost them hardly anything extra for automatic climate controls. The power tilt/telescoping wheel probably does cost more, same with the rain sensing wipers. You'd think the Challenger would be much less costly to build because they're saving the cost of the rear door hardware. They could have put more of the luxury features in the RT/C.

 

Really? Power tilt steering wheel? I have had my MAGNUM for three years and moved the wheel TWICE...and rain sensing wipers? Touch your wiper once and it wipes the window...how lazy have we gotten as a people?:guiness:Just my opinion...I find it humorous that people are complaining about any of this stuff. If you wanted the features of a 300/Charger/Magnum, no on e MADE you buy a Challenger.

I myself like my SRT8 I didn't buy it to haul people around in.. We have a 4 dr for that.. Our kids are grown and gone.. Really, there is not enough room in the back for adults to ride comfortable anyway..Times that I've been stoped, the officer always has his flashlight on the glove box anyway.
The only ***** I have about my car is that it dosen't have a spare tire or a 6.4 Hemi. The rest I can live with..JMO:bigthumb:

I beg to differ on the comfort part in back. I've had plenty of adults ride in back and they've all commented on how much room there is. They did say they felt like they were in a dungeon though.

 

I think Dodge's rationale for passenger side entry is that it is safer - you're not having passengers enter/exit on the traffic side when parked on a street.

As for lighting, I have a flashlight in the storage under the center armrest, to illuminate any dark areas if necessary.

I've been waiting for this car since the concept was introduced, and just like I told the salesman - I DON'T WANT A CHARGER or any other 4 door or minivan!

No reason a 4000++ lb, 5 passenger car should not have a folding drivers seat. I buckle the kids in their car seats every day, and it requires me crawling in the rear footwell to do it. Absolutely retarded.

 

I don't use the backseat, but it would be nice to be able to throw

accident, think about the person behind you that can't get out!

Why would anyone want an under hood light? The days of being able to fix a car that died on a dark highway are long over. It would just be a useless expense.

So I guess we aren't supposed to be able to see if its dark and need to check something out? Its not like its an unnecessary expense at all, most of us have catch cans, most of us use garages with overhead lights that would cause the hood to block out the majority of the useful light (I know that was the case whenever I would try and open up the hood in the garage) and its not like NOONE knows how these engines work. Actually I bet a good majority of us woulld use an engine light.
