How much more economical can a twin turbo I6 be than the Hemi? I mean, if Dodge killed the Hemi because of the amount of fines they were paying to the DOT, I fail to see how the Hurricane I6 is going to completely change that.

Seeing it in a Challenger is interesting as an exercise, but to reboot their performance image in a post-Challenger world, they will need to put that engine into something that isn't paying homage to retro roots where the expectation is for a V8.

Why are they wasting time and resources messing with a platform that is no longer in production. How about start building a fraction of some excitement by showing the upcoming Charger that we have all gotten a glimpse of sporting the Hurricane so we can see some potential future performance instead of a higher up play toy.

With half the cubic inches it will do way better in the unrealistic EPA test and then swill gas like any other turbo engine in real world driving. As long as it does good on the test though.

Right. I heard from my dealership yesterday they received a memo saying that the EV is postponed indefinitely. I have been on my salesman's a$$ for months as i have solar panels and it is free power for me. I think they are testing the waters on garnering interest on the next gen Challenger which is still a rumor. But Dodge didnt spend that kind of money developing the Hurricane if they didnt have plans for it. I read somewhere that the Charger is going to be a dual platform vehicle- they will offer ICE beside an EV platform due to interest/sales. So we will see. Keeping one of my Challengers though, and want a Charger as a daily. If all I can get is a Hurricane, then so be it. PS if someone can edit my spelling- hard to type from my Samsung.

You are 100% correct. I have also read that there will be an ICE Charger coming. I suspect there will also be an EV Charger and they will market all options. Probably not a Hemi. They’re getting us ready for the Hurricane powered Chargers.

Exactly. Hopefully there is a Hemi version albeit limited production just to satisfy the die hard faithful. If you watch Kuniskis's reveal of the original Hellcat, they said it was only for a small percentage of people. Maybe they will carry over the Hemi, albeit like a Dodge Connection, or such as the heliphant 426 is- a crate that must be ordered separately from a production car. I just can't see them totally giving in to the powers that be.

The Direct Connection team unveiled a prototype Drag Pak vehicle at the recent Roadkill Nights event in Pontiac, Michigan. This groundbreaking car featured the new Hurricane6 “CAT 3” crate engine, boasting 550 horsepower and 531 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,500 rpm.

Spectators, however, stated that they were disappointed with the high-pitched sound of the 6-cylinder engine and really missed the deep roar of the HEMI.

Sources close to MoparInsiders.com suggested that Chrysler Group engineers are ironing out certain challenges related to the Hurricane6’s performance in racing applications.

They better do something! I get the feeling dodge really shot their dick off, especially looking at the Hornet reviews.

I think it will be awesome in a street car. I used to build Turbo Supras, it's basically diesel truck technology, and they make massive amounts of torque. You will soon be seeing many aftermarket 1,000 HP Hurricanes with big single turbos strapped to them.

Yep. Challengers are heavy cars. Just watched a video where a Kia EV6 GT beat a Black Ghost with 808 HP. Sad really. I am surprised they didnt make that model with 1K HP. the Shelby 1000 had 1k... and that was over 10 years ago.

See if this works-
The KIA is heavy as well, as all EV's are.

The intent there is to draw in viewers with the allure of an upset. People expect all things Hellcat to dominate anything they line up against. Any reasonable comparison would have had the Black Ghost on slicks and a prepped track to help level the playing field with AWD.

Those KIA's run mid 11's, which thought fast, is significantly slower than stock HC's on prepped tracks with slicks will run.

EXACTLY! That was the point I was making earlier about variables at play. Also, run them side by side for several runs and watch that EV’s performance drop off as EVs do… they’re not drag cars.

Yuck.... I've seen videos of the RIPP SC SXTs/GTs coming off the line faster, and sound better too.

It's my plan for next year to RIPP Sc my SXT. I already went ahead and got the HPTuners MVPI3. Waiting to send out my PCM to get unlocked. Then I want to just tune my SXT until next year. Mostly doing this to learn how to tune and use HPTuners applications and to see how much more HP I can now get out of some bolt ons I added.

I have to say that Kia is pretty impressive for the price, but I also see the distance is 250 Miles so that means in winter maybe 120 - 130 miles...
Once people realize EV's don't go nearly as far as the MFG's tell you, especially in wInter w/ Heater, Elec Seats, Headlights, Stereo, (about 1/2 the alleged miles), watch how fast the sales die down. Ya if you need a car to drive to the RR and back go ahead get a EV, but if you do some heavy interstate / throughway driving they just can't work period...

Now if Dodge ever produces the Charger Daytona SRT Banshee and the dealers dont double the price there's a part of me that says .... OK that could work for the Weekend Warrior Performance Vehicle, but then i think... WTF AM I GOING TO DO, GO TO A CAR SHOW AND SHOW SOMEONE MY BATTERY :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
