Dragy (Street) VS Track

I am getting my feet wet for WEDNESDAY'S SONOMA DRAGS.
I purchased Dragy, just to see real life for my 5.7. It is hard to find a secure open road that is safe and not likely to see cops.
I finally found one near where I live and did about 5 launches today. My goal was not technique but just to get familiar with my car vs the DRAGY
About every 5 minutes another car would come by, but nice long straight away that you could see plenty in front and behind.
Have to admit still a little intimidating as I didn't want to create a problem with anything.
At the quarter mile I was really moving and noticed I would back off a little premature and start a little weak.
I got enough done today where I at least feel comfortable with the mechanics of the process.
I was absolutely convinced by the end of my little street session that the TRACK is the best place, you can solely concentrate on just speed.
My best 1/4 mile was 101.30 mph at 13.82, I would say actually slow for a 5.7 because I was nervous about other drivers/cops, etc.
It was fun.

Yes, street racing is illegal. It should never be done. Only bad people do that. I'm a good person.
I did both, I'm a bad, bad person that fortunately never got caught, never had an accident or caused one. But that was back in the 70's when roads weren't as crowded. Now days I wouldn't think about doing it. We have two local drag strips that seems to keep the local street racing to a minimum.

Rent a copy of American Graffiti. That was the Rohnert Park Expressway. It was a no brainer for the producers since we already had it all marked off and the cop's new it. They pretty much left us alone because it was safer than Petaluma Hill Road or Chalk Hill road. Fast forward to today and I can't think of any road in your area that is safe enough to do test hits on at least not until late at night. Guerneville Road out past Fulton might work but I'd avoid it during the day time. We had the Cotati drag strip but lack of funding shut it down and it never reopened after Sear's Point was built.
