I'm looking to add a backup camera to my 2012 Challenger w/ MyGig RHR Uconnect 730N CD/DVD/MP3/HDD/NAV

I realize I can't stay OEM on this due to being a 2012. So Lockpick or NAV-TV looks like my only options. The main requirement here is to have that Dodge OEM look/feel to the monitor, so I want the image (the guidelines) to look just like the 8.4s found in the new Dodge Dart:

...I don't want the goofy digital overlay given as an example on the Lockpick site:

....so my request to folks is this:

1.) What camera (or kit) did you use (part numbers please)?
2.) What model is your MyGig?
*Bonus Points for posting an image of what your in-dash camera display looks like please.

What features do not work on the 2012 RHR? I just called Coastal a couple of days ago and asked about any issues with the v5 Lockpick and this head unit and the guy that answered gave me a run around and basically chewed me out for asking that question. After some hesitation, I ordered it because I really want the rear view camera.

Thanks Pa27...

Some folks say it's the cam that supplies the digital overlay, while others say it is the interface unit.

I'm leaning towards the camera myself.

Thank you for posting.

...anyone have a lockpick with a non-lockpick cam installed? on a 730N?

The camera ovelays the hash marks not the display. The camera will also flip the image so it's correct. The cameras that you can order along with the lockpick (lic. plate cam) has both features.

With the lockpick you can also add a front facing camera with hash marks (when your going under 7MPH it will turn on automatically)

One option we did (friend and I) to our challengers when we replaced our chin spoilers was to add a flush mounted camera to the front.

I researched this for some time and finally used a Sony XA-R800C on my 2011 IE. I made a plexiglass-mounting bracket and installed the camera up behind the license plate. So that the license plate light would not wash out the picture in the dark I installed a small 12VDC relay mounted on the plexiglass bracket. The relay coil is supplied and controlled by the back-up light circuit. This wire is located in the wiring harness running up the passenger side under the trunk lid. Note: Relay requirements: the relay has to have a contact that will hold the current draw of the reverse light with a coil that has a low current draw so that the reverse circuit will not trip the reverse circuit limiter (if current limited). My objective was to install a camera that works well and looks like the factory installed it, not looking like someone just stuck it on the car! :bouncy:

Someone recently posted that it will work if you take it out of auto override and then double tap on off switch when you wish to inut an address (this is contrary to what coastal tech told me to do). This has worked for me, except I still have an occasion when there is a loud click right after start up and the whole system is in slow motion. Adjust the volume and 30 seconds later it changes etc. only pulling the fuse will reset it. Then it works as advertised. If I could find a way to just integrate the camera I would so as not to put up with the issues.
