Racer X has been having bogging problems with his Demon 170 at the track.

He took the car to his Dodge dealer and they discovered the following trouble codes:

P1524- Oil pressure out of range. Camshaft Advance/Retard Disabled
P000B- Bank 1 Camshaft Position Slow Response
P032F- Camshaft Engine Producing Insufficient Torque

The techs at the dealership are puzzled and have elevated it as a Star Case.

It will be interesting to see what the Dodge engineers come up with.

A simple data log would reveal a lot

Racer xyz doesn’t know this..

...and neither does the service manager/service writer.

There are probably some technicians at the dealership that would know which parameters to log (maybe) if they were allowed to connect a good logger to the car and make a pass. But they will not be allowed to take dudes car to the track and monitor it attempting to go nine flat. No chance. And that is the only way to troubleshoot it. He is screwed. Without data they will be pissing in the dark, I don’t care how many dtc’s that roach spits out. Bummer

Tom Bailey's 170 had issues at initial testing at Bradenton. I have not heard any follow up yet. The electronics and programming of 170's appear to be complicated. As more 170"s hit the track I expect to hear of more issues. Hope there are enough Dodge Engineers employed by Stellantis to resolve the issues.

I feel bad for anyone that has car issues, but dude annoys the hell out of me... Because of that, I don't watch many of his videos

Sounds like those Dodge dealership techs have actually been trying to diagnose it. Normally they just blame it on the catch can or CAI and send you on your way.

Racer X has published a video updating the status of his Demon 170. Start at the 13:00 minute mark.

Dodge did an oil analysis and determined that there was a significant amount of metal in the oil and the engine is destroyed. As a result, Dodge will be providing a new replacement engine.

Note- The engine only had about 2,000 miles on it and the oil was changed every 23 passes.

I would really love to see the oil analysis, compression tests, and then a lot of shots of them taking apart the motor.

Does the supercharger have its own oil, or does it share the engines oil?

Can you get that real time data with a chassis or hub dyno or is that not real world enough?
Not for issues that are occurring at the hit

His car was malfunctioning when he was trying to launch it. There is only one place you can test that. And that is at a sticky track

The engine might be on its way out too. Who knows. I no longer trust my beloved Dodge. Never trusted racer xyz. He looks like a GM guy

See? ^^^? That’s growth ^^^. I didn’t call him a Chevy dick : )

Yesterday YouTuber TK's Garage reported there are 11 Demon 170 engine failures all having significant amounts of metal in the oil. If we recall, the 170 release was delayed supposidly because of engine failures. I feel sorry for folks that spent over $100K only to have their prized car sitting in a dealership for an extended time.

For the first time today I'm feeling maybe I was lucky that my attempt to purchase a Demon 170 failed.
