What did you do with the "old", stock hood? BTW......does that thing have a HEMI ?

Old hood is all carefully wraped in plastic and in the box the speedlogix hood came in. all taped up to keep the critters out of it and going in the rafters of my shop. And yes, It has a Hemi. Or simi Hemi. however you look at it.

........of COURSE it has a Hemi. I was mimicking the famous commercial at the same time I was being sarcastic. HUGE HEMI letters. Great job! :)

Paint is PPG. Well worth the cost. Keeping the car inside also helps with the color match. Not much fadeing in 3 years.

Redliner: I got it, just given some of it back. If you cant have fun then why do it. Right? By the way, You did tell the dealer not to flash it I hope. They ruined my 09. Had to take care of there screw up myself.

Any chance you can post a couple pics of what the hood looks like when sitting inside the car? I am curious as to the sight lines of this hood installed.

BTW a couple other questions:

  1. Did you install the ram air kit to the underside? If so how have you found it works?
  2. What was the test fit like for this hood on your car? I have heard differing stories of it so am curious as to how you found it?
  3. How much prep work did you have to do to the fiberglass to get it ready for paint? Again I have heard differing stories about the finish of this hood.

Thumpr, I do have the lower plate on the hood. I thought it might hit on the stock intake. But it clears with a 1/4" on my car. I want to get a CAI soon. but will talk with speedlogix about what works.
I took a gamble at the fit (a little) and preped the hood first (I can always adjust) It fit like a glove. The hood hinges hit a little on the lower side of the hood, but not enough to worry about. I will keep a eye on this and thouch up the paint as needed. I read where someone had to add some washers to raise the back a little. Mine is right on the money in the back and front. A hair low on the sides. but the gap is great. It took about 30 min to get them set. Also need to be realy careful when putting it on and closeing for the first time. Corners by the windshield pass very close to the fenders when shutting hood.
Prep was easy. I took my time and sanded every little crack and crevis with 180. The used high build primer/sealer for the first goaround. then block and sand. Gray primer, Block and sand. and over and over till I thought it was wave free. Turned out good. Paint is spot on and no waves. But I messed up on the back by the windshield. and will have to fix a small paint chip. Made me sick. But its fixable. All in all, my hood was in great shape. had to repair one place under the hood on the seam where the upper and lower hood come together. some fiber fill and sanding took care of it. I have worked on a lot of fiberglass hoods in my time. This is the best overall quality hood I have ever worked on.

Hood

yeah that was me that put the washers in on mine, it touched the top of the insides of the fenders. now I can slide a dollar bill under it from back to front and its a great fit, How hard is it for ya to be heard with the CB mic on the wall ? Ha Ha This is coming from the guy who got caught wizzing in the lake while the wife took a pic of the magnum.

That looks quite nice looking out. It does not really kill any sight lines over the hood that I can see.........but maybe it would for me as I am 5'3" so I anticipate a bit shorter than you :weird:

From the outside looking at the front of the hood it is hard to tell exactly how high it is and what the sight lines would be.

Thanks a lot for taking and posting the pic - much appreciated.
