Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm more confused now than ever. :) 3C, 4C, RA3, RA4, UAQ, UAS, VP3, VP4... So confusing - at least to me. :)

My original understanding was that anything up to 2016 could have nav enabled for a fee whereas anything 2017+ could not (needed different hardware) - but this thread seems to make that a mis-understanding! :)

BTW I just looked up my equipment list and it says my 2015 has a Uconnect 3C NAV.
Same here on my '16 on that link - shows 3C which isn't correct. Mine's an RA3

that's why I mentioned the definitive answer is to look on your system's info screen to get the part #.

a lookup with that will denote which head unit you have.

The window stickers have errors. My '16 shows 3 mode Bilstein suspension - which no 2016 Scat Packs ever had, yet the window sticker (and reproductions) still appear that way.

Hal, I have the part number. Where do I go to look up which system it is? A google search is not producing anything.

Also, and if it makes a difference, on the same screen with the model & part number, there is also a request number, which is what UConnect asks for whether you activate nav at the dealer or on the web yourself. So THAT tells me it must have nav, right? The issue is this: It costs $500, and even if the radio is not nav capable, UConnect will charge you AND you can not get a refund even if your system is not nav compatible. So you basically have to know 100% what system or it's a gamble.

Post the numbers you found, picture of that screen if you can

The request numbers are tied in with system software installs / updates. All systems would have that item.

Those are tied in with VIN & request numbers, plus a software key # is generated.

Different functions have combinations of these used. I did a navigation map update, and that had more codes and keys involved with installing that update (which you pay for).

System software updates are free for the uConnect operating system

Here's 3 pics of the system info screens.....uggggg….I have NO idea why those loaded sideways!
Here is why:

If you hold the phone upright and take a photo, so the photo is vertical or portrait, then the actual image file is technically horizontal, as all photos are "sideways", (think of a 4x6 photo coming out of the printer), you would need to turn the photo right side up to view it vertically. This is the same with a digital photo. When you view on a computer, or upload, you may see the image sideways. If so, then would then need to rotate the image using your photo viewing or editing software.

After the image is rotated, then you can upload it and it will appear correctly. This may vary based on your computer software, browser and/or camera.

Sometimes I just rotate the image in windows photo viewer and use the snip tool to save a new image...that way it is guaranteed the image will show up in the orientation I want.

I don't know why yours is listed as an 68258398AH , but it's an RA3, 68258398AF is an RA3, and H would be a superseded number, although I only see it listed one place, and no mention of RA3, etc. Looking at your menus, and with that number I feel secure in saying you have a RA3 that can be updated to Nav

Also, your SW version 17.43.01 was only for RA3/RA4

Because they are huge, lol 2500x1875 anything over 1920x... the forum can and will flip them any which way. Surely (don't call me Shirley) you've seen peoples pictures at the top of the forum, updaide down, lol

Set the size 1920x or less for the largest pixel size, and they won't flip, phone pics or not

Hmmmm i can’t upload pics from my iPad, eh? Ah well.

Also, yes, I did update the software. It was 15.x. I followed the directions and viola. Saved it to a usb, plugged it into my media hub, and within a few minutes, well about 20, it was complete. A bit nerve-wracking at first, until it did exactly what the directions said it would do.

I know I could do the NAV install myself, IF i could just figure out if this system is compatible. As the thread attests, finding a simple answer to this question is not so simple.

I can tell by the graphics yours is a RA3 / RA4 generation head unit.

The graphics, incons (and background watermark) and different on the '17+ units

FYI - look into an app called Tapatalk - that allows you to VERY easily upload photos from mobile devices. I use it for most of the forums I use and love it. A lot quicker than web-based forum usage as well.

I think I'd call Uconnect back with some of this newfound info (radio model number, etc) and see if you get a different answer now. Like you said, I'd hate to see you pay $500 and find out that you have some very-limited-run radio that looks like it can do nav, but really can't - or something along those lines - and lose $500!

Sure looks and sounds like you can get it though.

Is there any chance he doesn't have a nav antenna on his system or something like that? Or do ALL Challengers have a nav antenna?

Indeed, that's what I said :) I'm convinced, seems pretty straight forward now

It might be built into the HU - the earlier versions ['14 and earlier] were done in that manner.

I'm not certain if the shark fin antenna is predominately for sat radio. The older years - if no sat radio, no puck at all. The base models w/ base radio had that configuration
