Are metal tire valve caps OK for pressure sensors?

I was wondering if there would be a problem if metal tire valve caps have any problems with the auto tire pressure sensors. The factory installs plastic caps, less expensive, but may serve a purpose. Any thoughts or nothing here. thanks

hmm. I bought these for my Wife's G/T Black Top and I got them in silver for my R/T. I am putting them on when it warms up out. I hope the do not cause an issue.

When they first started making/using TPMS, a goal was to keep them as light as possible. A lot of factory ones were made with all metal parts being aluminum. (My 2002 Chrysler Town and Country Limited had them)
The stem, the core, the cap, were all aluminum. HUGE problems if you ran without a cap, the core would corrode (even with a cap) and you couldn't unscrew it out. Now, they all seem to be brass again, I guess realizing what a blunder that was.
But the idea of looking for the silvery cap must have stuck, so the new plastic caps were molded in silvery plastic.
But yeah, use any cap you want, just USE A CAP!
And also the actual valve has nothing to do with the TPMS sensor, other than using it as a mounting point. They have their own internal opening to measure the pressure inside the wheel.
The issue is, if you bugger up the valve, and need to replace it, the sensor is attached, and part of the sacrifice. Back when they were expensive, I remounted a sensor to a mag-wheel type valve, to save the sensor when only the valve needed replaced. It lasted 4 more years.

SXT and R/T are brass with black rubber stems and black plastic caps.

Scat Pack and SRT are bare metal (aluminum?) with silver gray plastic caps.

So not sure if you could run metal caps with the brass but with the metal if they are aluminum, then the dissimilar metal corrosion could be a problem.

Take @Slidd's advice!

I bought my 2015 SRT 392 as a "Certified Pre-Owned" in December of 2017. Part of the CPO treatment was to do a nitro fill on the tires ... and put a metal cap with an "N" on each stem. A few months later when I needed to add air to the tires, I found all four caps stuck. As in ... had to use pliers to carefully break them loose (or "lose" for the internet types in the crowd) without breaking the aluminum valve stems.

Dodge offers plastic logo caps in silver and black. Though out of a little paranoia, I take them off when I wash the car. Gives me a chance to clean the Brembo dust off of them.

As I remember, my present SRT came with GREEN plastic caps back in 2016. I was told the green was because the tires were Nitrogen filled from the factory. Was this BS, or was N2 + green plastic caps added at the dealer level? Ever since, I've thought green caps meant Nitrogen filled tires. I could google it, but I'm to lazy!

The only problems as we mentioned when you introduce different Metals they sometimes will fuse due to elements and they are nearly
Calcium Welded to each other. I would still personally dab a small amount of Grease or WD Lithium on them with a Q'Tip before putting them
on. and they it would only be during a Cruise . Meet or Show.
