I have no experience with that BFG tire, if I were to recommend a tire I do have experience with, and which has outstanding tread wear, it would be the Kumho Ecsta PA51.

They aren’t sexy looking, in fact I hate their pedestrian look, but they have outstanding performance in wet weather and twice or three times the tread ware of my favorite tire for non freezing weather - Firestone Firehawk Indy 500.

 

Kumho Ecsta PA51 is a great all season tire, a little harder that what I desire, but I'm glad to hear it has great performance.
I would prefer something softer and more summer performance kind of tire. Thank you.

The Indy 500 is the only ultra high performance summer tire I’ve got experience with, and while I love it’s performance in all conditions (except freezing obviously), I dislike how few miles I get out of them before needing a new set.

I would have gone through at least 2 sets of the Indy 500s in the time I’ve had these Kumho tires, and they still have more tread left to go.

 

I run those on my SRT. I’m not a tire expert to be sure but I am satisfied with the performance and durability. Not a big deal, but be aware they are directional so rotating same side front to back is the only option. I replaced the original P Zeros that came on the car at around 20,000 miles. I’ve put 15,000 miles on them since then and they are wearing well.

 

I had those BF on my 2015 RT plus they are good tire IMO
Lasted about 31000 miles could of went a few more miles
Replace them with Michelin Pilot sport 4s they are pricey
Bought them from Tire Rack first time they were awesome best price
Order on Wednesday noon time they were at the shop by 1pm the next day
But they are well worth it have about 600 miles on them major difference

 

20k miles from P-Zeros?? 31k from these BFG?? Amazing mileage you guys get from your tires..!
I got 15k miles from a set of tires that are almost 3 times harder compound than the P-Zeros. A friend of mine got 8k miles from a set of rear P-Zeros on his 996 911 Turbo - and that's great mileage.

Mike - good point with the unidirectional thread, I haven't noticed that.But that won't stop me to get them.
Beachlovers2 - you're confirming what I read about the BFGs. I also read they have a great handling on cars much "supple" than ours. Is an older tire, but still good in 2019 tire tests.

 

I should note that I don’t drive the car really hard. I do get on it on occasion, but I have never left any dark streaks behind me as I have driven away. The P Zeros were a 3 season tire. I live at the 4000 foot elevation and it gets cold here. I didn’t want to be handcuffed from driving the car on a sunny but cold day.

 

I did like they way they handled , also I rotate my tires every 4000 miles and i have the save
size all around
I have the alignment check very 10,000 miles , this last time with the new tires my alignment was out
front and back not much but enough

 

I have them on my SRT 426 stroker, they have like 40,000 on them, still 50% tread. They will not hook up with my power, but I don't street race and use slicks at the track.

 

Flame, if your tire will hook up to your liking with a 426, they may be what I'm looking for. However, your comment "I have them on my SRT" has made me realize that I lost which tires "them" are. Can you please tel me what you have. I've lost track, my bad.

 

Just to clarify - I never did launches, burns or donuts, that's plain stupid, killing the tires & drive-train.
I don't commute or long distance travel with my Challenger either. I use the car mostly in the weekends, driving canyons & open roads. Only when weather is good. Sometimes with a group of friends, sometimes not.
I drive my car fast, but not hard, as is designed to i guess, I'm enjoying every minute with it. I never abuse it, never went to the track (as I don't think this is a track car), I never do anything stupid (I hope ) However, spirited driving needs summer tires with decent grip, and is eating them quicker than commuting or traveling.

I just replaced the factory Pirelli P Zero Nero 275/40 all season tires with the Indy 500's, 305/35 back and 275/40 front on the 9.5" factory wheels. It was 45 degrees when I drove it home and it hooked up a whole lot better than the Pirellis ever did, which were like driving on ice when the temps hit around 50 degrees. Based on that, I can't wait to see how they are when it's actually warm.

I had the opportunity to test the BFG G-Force Sport Comp 2 under controlled wet and dry conditions to get a feel of the grip the tires provided in both conditions. They were very impressive holding the car very well in both conditions pushing the car hard. We didn't test them for mileage but as mentioned by others they are a solid performer.

Here is my tire vendor! I buy tires from you guys in all my cars (I had a lot of them) since forever. Your local shop is my preferred tire place, great service, very happy. Let me know if you have any kind of comparison test between this BFG & other tires. Thank you for the input.

 

The Michelin Super Sports are great, great riding tires...they just won’t last long...

Totally agree with Unicorn , I could of got few 1000 more miles , but why chance it ,
and at the end of the day few hundred dollars more you spend on the better tire ,over say 2 , 3 or 4 years
IMO it does not make much of a Financial difference

 

Any experience with this tire? I'm due for a set and I was looking at this one.
2017 5.7 R/T with 275/40 R20

Feel free to recommend / discuss any other Summer Performance tire with a decent lifetime (has a treadwear around 320-360).
I don't want P-Zeros or Hankook Ventus with a treadware of 220, they will last me 5k miles..
Don't care about snow or cold weather, I live in SoCal.

I had a staggered set on my 2013 R/T. Only lasted about a year and a half because because of an alignment battle. I went back to the AS version of these tires but in 275/40 on all 4 corners because of the mileage warranty from BFG. Honestly like the AS ones more for "spirited driving" on local roads. The summer ones probably perform better, but never got to fully test on them before they were completely toast.

 

softer compound grips better in all circumstances. Downside is the softer wears way faster and then add in the heat of the environment and the rough as sin asphalt roads in the south and tire wear is exceedingly fast. Western roads are probably similar to southern roads in that your not repaving long stretches like is done in the NE and MW where the freeze unfreeze breaks the roads up requiring more frequent repaving, thus smoother surfaces and less wear.

Does that make sense or sound like complete BS.

I’m still in the honeymoon phase with the General GMAX Ultra RS Tires. So far, the most notable difference from the stock rear tires is that I no longer peel out at every turn coming out of a stop.

No, don't get the sport comp 2's, get the BFG gforce comp 2, not the sport comp 2. Those don't last and don't have a warranty mile rating .

I have Nitto Motivio's on my car currently. 60,000 mile rated. Been happy with them.

245/45/20 in front
275/40/20 in back
So can't rotate em, but if I get close to 60k...like 40-45 k ,I'll be Happy. I don't race my car.

The wider ones are a little under $200 at around 190-195 depending on where you get em.
