You can just replace the screen without replacing the entire radio. Do a search and find a shop that does electronic screen repair. U-Break-I Fix may even do this type of repair. You can even do it yourself. The most complicated part is ordering the correct screen which are available on e-bay. There are a few U-Tube videos that show the procedures required to remove the radio and replace the screen. Cost will be significantly lower going this route.

From what I have heard, Dodge will only replace the entire unit. The other route you can take is to just replace the defective screen. It will cost you a few hundred dollars. Check with a company that replaces electronic screens as this is now becoming a more popular service. You can call Up-Fix Electronic Screen & Module Repair at (888) 979-9343. In the meantime, I would read what your warranty will cover as some won't cover electronics. Your first trip to the dealer will have them diagnose your concern and from the photo that you posted, it looks like screen delamination. Next, they will have to get approval from you warranty company and then order a new or rebuilt radio unit. You will probably need another appointment to have them change out the radio.
Appreciate the info, I just might try replacing the screen instead. I will update as I go. Thanks everyone.

I find it unreal that Dodge hasn't issued a recall yet on these delamination issues.
Recalls are usually only issued if the defect can be tied directly to a safety concern. Governments only require that recalls be issued if the defect can lead to or cause an accident. Occasionally enough customers make enough noise that automakers will issue a recall on an issue not associated with a safety issue but that is rare.

Usually the consumers only recourse is legal action either directly or as part of a class action suit. I believe there is a class action suit related to delaminating screens in other FCA/Stellantis products you may want to give that a Google. Be warned that usually the only people that see any "real" compensation in these class action suits are the lawyers involved. Once in a blue moon there might be some sort of useful remedy out of these things but I wouldn't hold my breath...

I have a 2017 scat pack with 25k miles on it. I’ve been experiencing the same issues I’ve seen in threads with the screen going crazy and it being a “ delaminating issue”. I’ve called dealerships around my area (LA county ) and I’ve been told just to see the car and diagnose it’s a $150 dollar charge. For a new screen/unit with installlation is $1,350. I’m so blown away that at 25k miles this is an issue. I treat my car like a baby and shouldn’t have these type of issues on an expensive car.
I’m new to the forum and can’t figure out how to direct message dodgecares. I click on their profile but there’s no option for direct message. Does anyone have a number I can call? I’m hoping for a miracle in getting this resolved :(

This screen delamination issue is a serious manufacture defect. It is not acceptable for Dodge to continue selling products that may cause serious, potentially fatal, physical harm. When the screen goes out of control and changes settings and applications, it becomes a very serious road hazard as well as health hazard.
I cannot keep the AC on in Texas heat, because it keeps switching to heat and turning the temperature all the way up then it will turn the seat warmers on and off repeatedly. I have a four-year-old, and it is completely unsafe for her to ride in a car with the heater on in 100° weather. My only option is to turn it off, and then she suffers in the Texas heat. If I leave it on, it is an incredibly unsafe distraction trying to continually correct all of the changes it is making while driving.
It’s impossible.
It’s unsafe.
It’s unacceptable.

I was less than a month outside of warranty when my screen delaminated. I just contacted Dodge cares, and I was told there is nothing they will do to help financially or otherwise.

I am a certified paralegal, and I know a CLASS ACTION when I see one. I will be contacting an attorney within the week to discuss a lawsuit. If anyone is interested in joining or helping to hold them accountable, feel free to message me with details about your experiences.

I can deal with all manner of things, but when it comes to endangering child’s health or the lives of others, it crosses the line from inconvenience to known negligence.

P.S. I called @DodgeCares, and I assure you, they don’t.

I have a 2018 T/A with 9k on it, my radio screen appears to have water in the top part, every time it rains I get a blue screen and it wont turn off, if I wash my car I go about 2 days without a radio. If it gets below 32 degrees I have noticed that it freezes as well. This will be my 4th time to the shop without a resolution.
Hi there,

Hello, I’m having the same delamination issue with my uconnect 8.4 touchscreen. It acts like I touch different parts of the screen randomly. I have a 2018 Challenger R/T with 56K miles. Can @DodgeCares help?
Hello,

Sorry to hear about that! Send us a private message with your VIN and information about any corrective actions you've taken so we can look into this further for you.

Thanks,

Currently having issues (jumping stations, modes, etc on it's own) with my Uconnect 8.4 on my 2017 Challenger ScatPack. From the pic I attached I'd say it's due to delamination. Bought it used 5 months ago, have an extended warranty but I have to say this is upsetting. I did not notice this until 4 months after I bought it, had no problems at all so I really hope it's not something that was forming when I bought it? Now I can't even use it without having to do a soft reboot multiple times in a day. Tried getting an appointment but they are booked until the end of October. I'll lose my mind by then! I've heard @DodgeCares might be able to assist so wanted to put this out there for some advice?

Hi Courtney, It doesn't look like I can private message Dodge Cares, there is no option to do so once I login?

Hi @DodgeCares , I'm having an issue with ghost presses and what looks like screen delamination. it just started a few weeks ago and is progressively getting worse.

It will not let me private message you, can you private message me?

I just bought a 2017 Challenger and my screen is bubbling as well. I’ve been told the extended warranty is too new whatever that mean. Perhaps @DodgeCares can assist?

Ive got a 2017 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker and at the 40k mile mark. The touchscreen began delaminating a few months ago and has gotten progressively worse, now affecting the performance of the system, this includes the screen going "berserk" and randomly begins selecting the options on screen on its own. So I cannot listen to the radio nor can I keep the climate control set properly as it also gets changed due to the screen delamination. Essentially, my Connect is useless at this point.

Since I am out of warranty, will the dealership cover this defect or will I have to get this screen replaced out of pocket? Any assistance is much appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

Probably out of pocket but it wouldn't hurt to contact Dodge Cares & see if they will open a case. The dealers will only replace the entire radio. You can order a replacement touch screen and replace it yourself. There are U-Tube videos on how to remove the radio and replace the screen. Other option is to take the radio to a shop that will replace the screen.

My click reset button constantly keeps clicking reset even when I click no. Now it's changing my radio station and the screen is starting to look distorted just like the other complaints on the Dodge Challenger. What is causing this issue because it must be a Dodge issue?

If you mean on the Uconnect Stereo if its under warranty take it to a Dealership. Also there was a Recall on the Uconnects a bulletin check the VIN for Recalls and contact local dealership
and get it corrected.

Or

Also get any other recalls updated and fixed while your at it.

Hi Duanedeeshun,
We certainly understand why this may be concerning. We kindly recommend having your dealer inspect this concern for you as they are in the best position to assist. If you do work with your dealer, we would be more than happy to provide you with additional support via private messages.
