Hello all. Newbie here. I plan on getting a Demon 170. But i am getting leery. My question is. I hear some talk that these engines are already in short supply. And may not be around in the near future. I would plan on keeping the car long term. Until extended warranty runs out. If i unfortunately end up needing a new engine down the road. I don't want to end up not getting it replaced with the factory engine. Is there some truth to this? Thanks!

That engine is just like any other part. When it’s discontinued, it’s discontinued.

You would need quite the travesty to not be able to rebuild your engine if required. Supercharger may be a different issue.
I believe 2014 and earlier Challengers are unable to get OEM ABS systems.

Welcome from Kentucky! If you have the money to get a Demon 170 just spend a little more and get a spare engine and put it away. Hope it works out for you. Post some pictures, we like pictures.đź‘Ť
It just uses a normal BGE block, you can swap any built BGE block into it and make double the HP
I wouldn’t worry about it. The manufacturer has to support that car for a certain amount of time (10 years?) and I know that they sell the demon 170 motors on DC as a crate motor. Dodge has been using those crates for warranty work for d170’s that have blown up but they will replenish their supply of these crate motors.
Just follow the break in procedures and you’ll be fine. I’d recommend a hellcat specific/only forum as there is way more info on there than in here.
I was thinking about getting rid of my redeye and getting a D170 myself but it’s a “one trick” pony if you know what I mean. But it does that one thing better than anyone. If your going to take it to the strip it is a beast and you’ll love it.

Oh brother, I wish I could say I was in the market for a 170. You are faced with a once in life time experience to own and drive a car like this and your entertaining the the possible downside? Come on live a little , you only go around once.

Nope, was never 10 years, that's been an urban myth at least since the 60s. When I worked for AMC back in the 70s, there were already parts for the 68-70 AMX that were unobtanium by 1973. I would talk to the guy in HQ where I worked who would try to source some parts for people. I remember asking him about the 10 year myth, and once he stopped laughing, explained it was BS!

my buddy got a camaro outta texas that has about 1400 hp
