If you watch cat back exhaust install videos, some say you may need to heat and tweak the brackets that attach to the rubber hangers. My right factory tip was visibly lower than the left one from the factory. Hope they can correct it at a reasonable cost.

 

My Flowmaster was a little low on the left after install. Wal-Mart blow torch to the rescue. :bigthumb:

 

You need to Loosen up ALL the bolts, make the adjustments and then tighten up all the bolts. That's what I was told by the guy who did mine. Good luck

I had a Borla exhaust that fit horribly. Do you have the Mopar version of the exhaust? If so, you may have a defective set. The first batches were riddled with issues (tips, tailpipe, and weird sound at WOT).

You may be able to get an exhaust shop to refit and heat any pipes that need bending to make the tips more aligned. After all the issues and nothing solved, I got my Borla exhaust melted, and went with Zoomers.

 

I don't believe that mine is a Mopar version. Everything is stamped borla (tips and mufflers) anyways. Not sure if the Mopar versions are marked with Mopar emblems or not.

 

Okay cool, you probably have a set that's fine. Have them undo all the pipes and push them in as far as it will go. A 2x4 and a mallet will do the job. Once all pipes are fit flush against each other, tightened the bolts on each clamp, and you should have a straight exhaust.

Installation is key. I won't even mention how bad the guy that initally installed my Zoomers was. In fact, he was so inept at doing a relatively easy task, I took it to a reputable exhaust shop and they took care of it. :banana:

 

I take her in next week to take care of this. Rainy and crappy weather in Atlanta this week!!! I think that fixing this by swiping my card as opposed to beating it into submission will be better for my blood pressure!

 

Another reason besides your blood pressure is by being on a lift they will be able to makes corrections more easily than you on your back. The metal rods that go throught the rubber bushing need to be straight and flat in the mounting holes with no stress on them. The muffler shop can heat and bend them to achieve that for you, otherwise the system is sitting twisted by just loosening and moving the tailpipes.
It's one of the reasons I didn't buy my system with the dual round tips, I got to put my system in strain and spaced away from surrounding body and suspension items and then when all done put my tips on and rotate them to where they needed to be. For whatever reason these companies done let you install and align those tips.

Agree Yellow Jacket not sure why many of the aftermarket including Borla CAT Backs do not have adjustable tips like the OEM set up I came across Magnaflow I am considering putting on my car. The sell a set up without tips intended for you to use your OEM on the system seems pretty cool.

 

I really agree on the adjustable tips. That would have been really helpful in my case. So to conclude the saga of my exhaust. I brought it to "my guy" on Monday. The one side was hanging too low because the last hanger was stretched out too much thus not holding it high enough we switched with a hanger further up the system. However it seemed that the whole systemed to shifted to one side leaving both of the tips favoring the passenger side. Everything looked good otherwise. He ended up cutting the pipe about 3/4 of the way through the pipe a little bit behind the mufflers, positioning the tips and then welding it back. Made me a little nervous while doing it but worked out well. Cost me $65. He was rather baffled at why this was off the way it was and said that he hasn't seen anything like that before. So, if you buy a used exhaust be aware that you will sometimes have more headaches than anticipated. In the end, I am happy with the Borla. Not piss your neighbors off loud but really adds a nice tone to the car, and any car guy is going to turn their head when your getting on it
