MDS, did they leave MDS on the Hellcat?

When I disabled the MDS on my 2013 my fuel mileage went up and the car exhaust sounded better... What did they do with the Hellcat? Are we going to have to wait for Diablo Sports to crack the computer?

No MDS because the main reason for MDS is to avoid the gas guzzler tax and even with MDS, the Hellcat wouldn't quite make the mark and would still get the gas guzzler tax. So no need for it. I'm sure there may have been engineering reasons not to put MDS on a blown car too.

I guess I'm an anomaly because I enjoy MDS. With the new baffling, there's no drone or exhaust note change (well, very very little) and you can hardly tell it's in action. Yet on the 2015's, there's a significant jump in mileage. Between 3-4 MPG on the highway. I've tested it many times by sliding the shifter over to manual to disengage it. Mileage will drop from 27 to 23 when running 65 MPH or so.

I think the manufacturers are putting more engineering resources into making these systems better. I have read great things about the Vette's version of MDS -- IIRC they do things like use the car's stereo to help cancel out certain sounds that would cause annoying resonances (drone) when it's running on 4 cylinders.

I expect we're going to see these systems become more common as fuel mileage standards keep ratcheting up.

On the 2015 Scatpack it's easy to avoid MDS by setting up the Sport mode so MDS is disabled. Personally I don't understand the MDS haters. It's hardly noticeable. It saves gas so I can waste it later by stomping on the gas pedal when I want to. Believe me, the Hemi can waste gas in a hurry. :werd:

The multi displacement system on my 08 Dodge 1500 never did a thing to improve gas mileage. I'm positive the truck got worse a low speeds (20-30mph on logging roads) than compared to the 50-65mph range. I'm sure things have improved, but on the Hellcat it would have been a waste of time IMO. Another gadget to go wrong. I actually would have liked the option to delete some of the accessories on the Cat I ordered, but then I'd have nothing to ***** about down the road...LOL
