Power window reset?

My driver's side power window is acting up, is there a way to reset the motor? I have actually had the part replaced at the dealership a few weeks ago(not the window motor but the latch assembly inside the door that tells the window motor when the door is open or closed - a common problem they told me), the new one behaves worse than they part they took out. Any help? Thanks in advance.

...or you can try:

1) run the window all the way down, and continue holding the down button for 5 seconds after the window reaches the bottom.
2) run the window all the way up, and continue holding the up button for 5 seconds after the window reaches the top.
3) repeat step 1.
4) repeat step 2.
5) does problem still exist?

Awesome! I replaced a dead battery and my window dropped 6". It dropped a 1/4 inch and raised a 1/4 in twice while I was driving in a hella rainstorm. then a day later my battery was dead. The recalibration fixed it not closing all the way when I closed the door, but oddly enough it did the same thing again... dropped and then raised 1/4" without touching the door twice.. but then it didnt do it anymore.. Does anyone know how to kill the power window drivers side? I will lower it just enough to clear the weatherstripping and then pull the fuse. I dont want to drain my battery again in the interim of repair. The alternator reads 14.7 volts at idle and it charged my battery to 12.79 volts so I am good there. Just have to find that parasite drain.

Hi. I have a 2010 Challenger SE and the window started to seem stuck between the top and that 1/4 inch gap. Tried all the suggestions - on off up down. Anyone know how to reset this? I have disconnected my battery so it doesn’t drain it. Any suggestions are appreciated

I tried to have engine on- hold down for 45 seconds to set off a problem that will reset- then full down hold 2 sec and full up hold 2 sec. and it seemed to work for one try then it started to drop and go up and up and down that 1/4 inch. This didn’t work either. So I am stumped. Please help. Thank you

That is the standard procedure

08 - Electrical/8N - Power Systems/Power Windows/Standard Procedure

STANDARD PROCEDURE - CLEAR/RELEARN

NOTE: The battery must be fully charged or the vehicle running for proper calibration of the front door module.
NOTE: The following procedure must be performed anytime the power window system has been serviced in either front door or, there is a possible concern with a door module calibration.Smart-glass / Express-down possible concerns.

Glass will not drop correctly when door is opened.
Glass will not raise after door is closed.
Glass will not lower all the way down flush to the beltline.
Glass will not raise fully; wind noise / water leak.

To clear/denormalize the door module memory, perform the following procedure:

CLEAR/DENORMALIZE
1. Check and repair any door module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)(s) before proceeding.
2. Using a scan tool, under the Miscellaneous functions menu select (Denormalize Window/Reset ECU), and follow the directions to clear/denormalize the door module memory. To relearn/normalize the door module memory, perform the following procedure:

RELEARN/NORMALIZE

NOTE: The battery must be fully charged or the vehicle running before proceeding.
1. If needed, place the vehicle battery on charge or have the engine running.
NOTE: Both doors must be completely closed before proceeding.
2. Sit in the driver seat and close the door.
3. To relearn/normalize the door module, start by raising the door glass to the full-up position by pulling up on the window switch and holding the switch until the door glass is fully closed. Continue to hold the window switch up for two seconds after the door glass is full closed.
4. Lower the door glass to the full-down position by pushing down (depress) the window switch to its second detent and hold the switch until the door glass is fully open. Continue to hold the window switch down for two seconds after the door glass is fully open.
5. Check the operation of the smart-glass. Verify that the door glass drops approximately 1/4 inch when the door opens, and raises when door closes. If window does not drop or raise, repeat procedure starting at step #3
6. Check the operation of the express-down feature.
7. If the smart-glass does not work, repeat the procedure starting at step #3, waiting for three seconds after the window stops.
8. Recheck and repair any door module DTC's as needed

Might try going full down, then disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes. Reconnect and try the relearn again

They err on the side of caution, they just don't want the battery to die while doing it. As long as the battery is good, it doesn't matter

You ever get this problem fixed? What part did the trick?

Hi no they did not seem to work. Going to the dealership Wednesday for a fix. Thanks
You ever find out what part needed to be replaced?

Ever solve this?
I have been looking for the answer for hours now, I was about to call the dealership tomorrow and see what they could do, then on a different forum I found this. It actually worked for me. I’d say hold it for at least 50 seconds the first time. Good luck!!
Usually this is done with a scan tool but since most don`t have access to one, it can be done a different way.
With the car running and doors closed, hold the driver window switch down for at least 45 seconds (don`t worry it won`t hurt anything) this will set a fault in the door module for a stuck switch and force it into relearn mode.
Shut the car off and restart
Next pull up on the switch until the window stops, hold for 2 seconds,
push down until the window stops and hold for 2 seconds.
Raise the window and open the door to verify it drops correctly when the door opens.
Most of the time this will restore properfunction.

Wow calibrating worked for you? Was your window going up and down on it's own? Mine does it while driving only, not while parked.

Check my post out, I just made it yesterday and have received some great tips.

I just ordered the Door Latch mechanism from RockAuto.com. Arrives Monday. My tech installing it Wednesday. I will report back on my forum post about how it goes.

Take the original motor out and replace with another. I found a replacement on ebay and Problem solved. It's been 4 years and counting
