What year? If you have a newer Challenger with active exhaust, it will keep keep them open. If you have an auto, it turns off MDS. I have experimented where I'll be going a steady speed (e.g. 65mph), turn on Sport Mode, and I can feel the car bump/surge in speed. May not be much at all, but it's definitely noticeable. If I take sport mode off, it goes back down.

On my 2022 R/T: sport mode disables MDS (4cyl mode) and reconfigures shift points dramatically to keep the engne in it's power band making for an extremely entertaining if inefficient driving experience. The steering feel might get a little heavier, but it's already pretty heavy in normal mode. Sport mode also keeps the active exhaust in whatever mode makes it the loudest.

I feel that I'm in "Sport" mode the minute I back out my 2022 Dodge Challenger RT out of the garage! :) I avoid putting on Sport mode when driving with my wife. She may think the Hemi Challenger is too loud.
My wife doesn’t go in my Challenger, she has no interest in it, LIFE IS GOOD!

Owned my 2020 SPWB A8
For two years now.

Never have turned on “track” mode.

I be a scared too! 🙈
time to live a little my friend! Track is the loudest, stiffest mode on the SPWB, but it’s really not crazy at all. I prefer Sport mode for steering feel and a noticeable pep in acceleration. Track has very heavy steering and not great for city driving/bumpy roads

In my '18 M6 Scat Pack, Sport Mode provides more responsive/better feel steering, more responsive gas pedal, and turns off the stupid skip shift.

Did try Track Mode once, it turns traction control way down, great way to waste tires! :D The button next to that turns off traction control completely. I have not tried that one. I'll probably use both a few times when I need new tires, then detail the wheel wells.

I'm in Sport at all times (technically Custom, Traction in Street) just in case MDS really is bad juju.
Good point, mine is the same. Even with this, the car can easily and nicely chirp off the line into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Never gone fast enough to see if the same is true for 5th.

Sport mode on R/T 1-Throttle response is quicker 2- Steering tightens up 3- Auto Trans shift much more aggressive up shifts and down shifts 4- Active exhaust open 100% 5- 4 cylinder mode deactivated. All this provided none of the default settings were altered in performance pages. In performance pages you can also have sport mode turn off some nannies, traction control for vehicle. Not all R/T have access to performance pages .Need performance handling package (which very few R/T have) and or 8 inch uconnect.

Thanks guys… loved reading these posts. Especially comments about avoiding wife problems!!😂😂

On my 2012 sport mode does all that has been said, except active exhaust of which my car does not have.
Also in sport mode if a person puhes and holds the traction control button until he hears an audible beep the traction control is completely deactivated allowing for good burn outs.
Greg, I tried Sport mode for the first time today, but we only have 1200 miles on our brand new car… AND it’s a V-6!!! We live in Yakima, Wa. and are over and back over the pass all of the time, plus we live in snow country. Except for the speed and power that you guys get, I found all of the stiff handling and instant response of steering, gas and brakes that you guys are talking about. I bought the car for my wife for Christmas and she loves the style and handling, etc…. The look of the Challenger is almost exactly the same as my 1970 Ford Torino GT… they could be clones. I bought my car at the Ram dealership in Vancouver Wa. The salesman told me that one of the San Antonio Spurs players bought that big Challenger (the Hellcat I think) that has about 1000hp)… it was black like ours, and there all similarity ends!! The salesman said that you had a hard time keeping it on the road in all five gears!! I asked him why he would own a car like that? He said probably to add to his collection….. Ah to have money….Life is Good!!!!
